Sadness Takes Its Toll

Just a collection of poems as to how I feel at the moment - depressed.

2. Belly of the Beast

I once thought the Belly of the Beast

Was a broken crayon.

Mom couldn't fix it,

and she told me to color with one little half,

While the other half dangled helplessly,

Held by a strand of paper that refused

To snap.

I once thought the Belly of the Beast

Was a missing Barbie dress.

Honestly, Raquel couldn't have been able

To wear a blue dress to the Ball.

Pink was the only way to go.

But the perfect dress lay under the bed,

Hiding.

I once thought the Belly of the Beast

Was the Netflix login screen.

Although it was set up to logon when I opened the tab,

It loved to glitch on me.

Dad never gave me the password

Am I really that

Untrustworthy?

I once thought the Belly of the Beast

Was the neighbor.

She hated me,

And I still stuck around her.

She nearly killed me,

And it wasn't till I left that

I was safe.

I now think the Belly of the Beast

Is love and trust.

I trust someone to stick around,

And in a flash,

She's gone.

Not her fault, but I still feel

So broken.
