Love Me? {Ashton Irwin}

Scarlett lived in a quiet town by the name of Grandview, Oregon. Nothing happened there. There were little residents. (About 500-600 at the most.) She had little friends, and she certainly didn't have a boyfriend. Her life went the way she wanted it to; Quiet and uneventful. She has one wish though. That wish is love. She wants to know how it feels to have a complete stranger com into your life and feel love for them. But a blonde boy from Australia happens to do just that.

17. Chapter Fifteen.

The last bell of the school day rang, making me jump and quickly throw my books in my bag and scurry out of the classroom. I swam through the crowded hallway, hoping I wouldn't see Ashton. I finally made it to the library and quietly shut the door behind me. No one was in there, and the librarian was sleeping behind the desk, with her head hanging on her  shoulder. I chuckled to myself and tiptoed more into the library. I kept going until I came to the back exit, and quietly opened the heavy door, then slipped outside. Once I was outside I made sure no one was there, and sat on a patch of grass. I lent my back on the brick wall of the school and let out a breath. I then pulled my backpack on my lap and shuffled through until I finally found what I was looking for. My Honey Rose cigarettes. As I pulled out my lighter, which was right underneath the box, I slid a cigarette out. Placing it between my lips, I lighted it carefully and finally breathed in the sweet flavor.

I put my head on the brick building and sighed, "Finally."

Just then I heard rustling, and snapped my head over to the sound. I waited a second until the figure came out.

"Well well..." Ashton began, "What are you doing here?"

I smiled, "Come sit."

He did as I said and took seat next to me on the patch of grass.

"Since when do you smoke?"

"Only when I get stressed," I said, "That's why the box is so full."

He nodded and looked at the box, squinting.

"Wait, honey rose?"

"Yeah, tobacco free."

"Can I have one?" he asked sheepishly

"Yeah," I took one out of the box and handed one to him, along with the lighter. He mumbled a thank you and drew in the smoke.

"These are good." he commented. I only nodded. I just wanted peace, but peace with Ashton is better than peace by myself. I brought the cigarette to my lips and took another drag, taking in the marshmallow flavor, and exhaling slowly.

"How did you know I was here?" I questioned

"Well," he turned his body so it was facing me, "You said you were staying to study, so I thought, where else would you study other than the library." he went on, "Then when I saw you weren't there I decided to go home and take the back exit, and here we are."

"Why did you want to come see me if you knew I was studying?" I asked before taking another drag.

He let out a light chuckle, "I just wanted to keep you company, I guess."

I made a crooked smile before standing up and throwing the finished cigarette on the concrete ground, and stepping on it. I walked back over to the patch of grass and plopped down next to Ash. Sighing, I rested my head on his shoulder. The sun was beginning to set already, and the sky was turning a light shade of pink. I took in the beautiful skies and sighed yet again, before feeling Ashtons arm snake around my back, and pushing me closer.

"The sky looks so beautiful." I stated

I looked up at him with a gaze and took my head off his shoulder. I had began taken in his features while we were  so close. His hair was curly and parted on the side, with a floppy fringe on one side. And his eyes, oh his eyes, they were so beautiful. The hazel in them was so vibrant; so full of life. I always seemed to gaze at his dimples. His dimples were far more different to any other dimples I have ever seen. His were a lot more stretched out and took up a lot of space on his face the wider he smiled. But if he had just a little smirk or slight smile, his dimples were still prominent, just not as big and stretched out.

"I have an idea," I began and moved slightly away so were weren't too close. "What if we put blankets and pillows in the back of your dads truck and watch the stars tonight."

He shrugged, "That sounds really cool, we might as well watch the sunset too."

"No, I like watching it here." I admitted, "But we don't have to even go to school tomorrow, we can just sleep in the truck and not have to wake up early tomorrow."

"That sounds really nice. Are you sure you want to miss school?" he questioned

I nodded and bit my lip, leaning back down on his shoulder. His arm made its way around my back again. I continued to watch the sun go down, and the sky to turn an even darker pink. We waited in silence until the sky went completely black, before getting up and walking back home. Our hands connected and swayed in between us as we walked. I couldn't help but smile at how much we acted like a couple. We could pass as a couple to the small amount of people that live around here, but, that's not the case.

We finally got to his house and bolted quietly up the stairs so we wouldn't bother his dad.

"I'll grab these pillows from my bed and your bed," I began and picked up the pillows, "then I'll get the blankets."

He nodded, "I'll get more from the closet."

I walked outside and opened the tailgate of the pickup truck before plopping all the pillows and blankets in the bed. [a/n the long back part of the truck is called the bed lol] I walked back into the house and saw Ashton balancing a stack of blankets and pillows while going down the stairs. I laughed, "Want some help?"

"No," he began and walked slower down the stairs, "Just go get your pajamas on."

"If you say so..." I slid against the wall on the stairs so Ash wouldn't fall over, and ran back up to change. I quickly wiped off my makeup and put my hair in a bun before putting on my slippers and going outside. I ran out and saw Ashton struggling to lay the blanket down flat on the truck. I chuckled before I jumped up in the truck and helped him out.

"This is a two person job." he lightly said while we both fluttered the thick quilt in the air and let it lay down flat. He threw me a different blanket. This one was a thin fleece blanket with a light blue color. We repeated what was done with the first blanket and then for the other three that came after. Then, we threw the fluffy pillows at the head of the bed. Finally, we laid down the last blanket which we would sleep under.

Ashton jumped out of the truck first, and then took my hand and helped me down.

"I'm gonna get in my sweats, you can make snacks if you want...?" he suggested. I nodded and walked in with him. As he was upstairs changing I put a bag of popcorn in the microwave and waited for the popping to begin. I grabbed two cups and filled them with juice. The microwave beeped, causing me to jump and turn. Just as I did, Ash came down the stairs. He helped me put all the food and drinks together until he opened a cabinet and paused.

"Are you ok?" I asked

"My dad has scotch up here."

"He knows that's my favorite." he put his head down.

I set the food down on the table and made my way over to him. Wrapping my arms around his waist, I pressed my cheek against his back.

"You know," I began, "I've never had liquor before."

"Scar-" He turned around.

"No, Ashton listen." I started, "You don't have to stop drinking completely. I have never drank liquor or been to parties, ok, but I'm a teenager and not once have I lived my life or done something so outrageous. But now's the time for me to live my life as an eighteen year old. I don't want to get drunk tonight, but I trust you enough to have some alcohol and not get out of control. I know you can drink responsibly and I know I can too."

He sighed, "The shot glasses are in the top cabinet."
