6. Thoughts And Memories

I lay in my hospital bed and zapping through the television channels. By now I was feeling good again and the doctors were puzzled about me. For security reasons they wanted me for a few days for observation to have here.

I sighed, turned off the TV and tried to sleep a little. After a couple minutes I moaned and stood up, walked over to the small sink in my room and splashed a little water on my face. I sighed again and went back to my bed.

I stroked the dozen bouquets, which I already got it and asked myself where Justin was. I looked through my room; it was so cold and terrible clinically.

Suddenly there was a knock at the door and I looked in this direction.

"Come in," I called, and the door was opened. A tall person entered the room with yellow flowers in front of the face, closed the door and came toward me.

I started to think loudly and said "Hm... You are tall, your hands are tanned... and you move without a sound..."

I tore my eyes and asked, "You're not supernatural, are you?"

Taylor began to laugh, dropped the bouquet and said, "Hey, pretty Lady." Then he came to me and hugged me.

"How are you, honey?" he asked and I grinned at him.

"Hey. I'm all better again. Haven't heard something of you for ages," I said, and he grimaced.

"I know and I'm sorry," he said and then lifted the bouquet.

"These are for you," he said, handing it to me.

"Oh, Taylor," I said, set the flowers and then looked at him again.

"They are beautiful! Thank you," I said and hugged him stormy. Taylor hugged me tightly and then held me back on an arm's length.

"Hey, don't you have to lay in bed or something? Are you contagious?" he asked and I laughed.

Then I beat him easily with the flowers and said, "I’m not contagious. I have no idea why they want to keep me here anyway."

Taylor shrugged and said, "They just need a little publicity. And who does it better than one of the hottest young stars of Hollywood ?" He winked at me and smiled.

I had to laugh and said, "Not at all! And what about you? What are you doing here?"

Taylor did startled and asked, slightly offended "Do you- do you want me to go?"

I laughed briefly and then hit him again. "Of course not."

Then I positioned the bouquet to the others and looked back at him.

He began to grin and said, "You know... I was worried." His smile was weaker and on his forehead wired up worry lines. "I had to get out again anyway. I was just in Atlanta, since I read it on the internet and am immediately driven to all sorts of hospitals to find you."

I interrupted his rant short and said, "Wait a minute. Shouldn't you be recording "Breaking Dawn"?"

Taylor smiled sheepishly and said, "Um, yeah. But don't worry, they need my by tomorrow."

I breathed a sigh of relief and said "Okay. I don't want that you get problems because of me, you idiot!"

This time he avoided my blow out, caught my hand and took it in his.

"Yeah, I know," he said, laughing, then added, "But that was not the only thing I wanted from you..."

I smiled at him and said "Well then, tell me."

He blushed slightly and said, "Well, I, um."

He cleared his throat and I laughed.

"Now, tell me! It can't be that bad," I said and nudged him.

He took a deep breath and then looked me straight in the eye when he said "Breaking up with you was a huge mistake!"

He looked at me expectantly, but I could only stare at him. Somehow I had fallen in shock or just dumbfounded, so I didn't know how to react. And somehow I was not sure what he had told me there.

Taylor began to smile and said, relieved, "Woah, it's a great feeling to get rid of it! This has occupied me for so long..." He let his eyes wander around the room and I could only stare at him. "Okay, actually ever since the night that I broke up. But then you got back to this Nick..." He shuddered. "And now you're hanging around with this Bieber... crazy. But he's only like fifteen. Such a little boy."

He shook his head smiling and then looked at me again. With a frown, he noticed that I wasn't fully there.

"Everything okay with you?" he asked worriedly and squeezed my hand. With his free one he waved in front of my face and said, "Hey. Earth to Selena. Are you still there?"

But my heart was kind of like swept. No longer there. I was somehow not really present.

Taylor appeared briefly to think before he started to smile and said, "In stories they always say that the princess must be kissed to awake again..."

He came closer to me and then stopped just before my lips. Then he straightened up and shook me again.

"Selena! Hey!" he said with a loud voice, and I jumped.

"Wow, sorry. I must have somehow kicked off... Probably the shock was bound to happen sometimes," I said and smiled. "So what did you say?"

"Oh, just that it was a mistake to break up with you, that I still love you, that I regretted it the same evening, that Nick Jonas is a weirdo..." He shook his head slightly. "... And that you are stuck with this Bieber... that’s all," he concluded, and I stared at him, aghast.

"What?" I cried.

"Well, just that..." Taylor started again and I crossed my arms.

"Already got it! Why do you come now? Why didn't you come earlier? What do you think-" I yelled at him, but he interrupted me.

By kissing me.

I froze and Taylor smiled at me as he parted again.

I reached out, slapped him and shouted "Are you crazy?!"

Finally we arrived at her car and got on. We drove a few minutes and had quite a bit of fun, but at my expense. I sat back and blushed, because the girls told their best Bieber jokes.

Everyone laughed and I fell with a red face deeper into the seat.

Zoey said "That was really good!"

"But I know the best!" alleged Vic and we looked at her interested.

"Hot lips, dirty hips, nice ass, high class, sexy smile, bieber style," she said and we all started laughing.

Then she looked at me and said, "Aw, look how embarrassed he is!" and the girls began to laugh even more.

Then Chloe pulled over and stopped the car.

"So, we're here," she announced, I strapped me down.

"It was really cool with you, but I need to see Sel. Thanks for everything. And now that I've given my number to Zoey, you can call sometimes," I said and smiled at them. I hugged everyone as best I could in the car and then got out.

"Tell her greetings from us," said Vic and I nodded. Then I waved and they drove away. Sighing, I turned to the huge building.

At the Information Booth, I cleared my throat to get the attention of the woman behind the counter as she telephoned.

"Yes, and you won't believe what has said to me! No! To you, too? OMG!" she squealed and I cleared my throat again. But she didn't respond, she just kept talking.

I typed briefly on the disc and said "Hello."

The woman looked at me, didn't show any reaction to who stood before her and said, "One moment please." Then she turned slightly away and laughed.

"Oh nothing, just as a boy. Yes, looks like fifteen," she said, looking at me and laughed again.

"Seventeen," I growled and she rolled her eyes.

"Can you please tell me now, where I-" I began, but she cut me off mid-sentence.

"Don't you see I'm busy? Come in five minutes again," she said, pointing to a bench where already a couple sat . Then she went back to her conversation and I stared at her speechless.

I turned around, looked through the hospital and discovered a gift shop. There I bought a small bouquet, and finally sat down on the bench.

I sat on my bed and shook my head. Taylor sat in a chair next to a table and tried to convince me that I would love him just as loved me.

"You were the one that hasn't gotten over the break up. And now there must be no more," said Taylor and I snorted.

"Since I was probably not the only one, if you really regretted it the same evening. Why didn't you say something?" I said, and in his brown eyes flashed hope.

"Would've you come back?" he asked and I sighed.

"I don't know. But now I'm really happy that this didn't happend earlier," I said, and sat up. "Because you came together with one of my best friends! Only a few days later! You and Taylor... And then you're telling me that you would regret it the same evening? Are you kidding me? And aren't you recently in a relationship with this Collins girl?" I said sourly.

Taylor looked first to one side and then to me directly in the eyes.

"But you came together with your ex Nick... and now this Bieber. That's just for fun right? This can't be serious!" he said in disgust and I braced my hands in my hip.

"I am serious. And what's with your Collins?" I persisted and Taylor looked at the table.

"Oh. Me and Lil are just friends... It was all just for the press, because of our movie," he said and then stood up. He came up to me, took my hand and looked at me with pleading eyes.

"Selena, please," he said quietly, but I eluded him my hand.

"No, Taylor. I love Justin. You can't change anything about it... not even Justin, if he wanted to. It just happened."

Meanwhile, half an hour had passed. The woman was still on the phone, the couple had asked a nurse and was gone. I had dutifully maintained, but slowly the situation was too stupid to me; even the flowers were already beginning to fade. Sighing, I got up and went back to the switch.

"No? Wow. Will I be your... Oh my God! You are the best!" she smiled and I knocked on the window.

The woman turned reluctantly to me and asked, "Yes?"

"I am searching for my girlfriend Selena Gomez. Can you tell me on which floor she is?" I asked and she frowned.

Then she tipped something and looked at the computer and said, "Selena Gomez... Hm, I'm sorry, under the name was nothing found."

I thought for a moment. "Okay, then Selena Marie Gomez," I said, and the woman turned again to the phone.

"You know, I got to go. It may take a little longer here now," she said and I rolled my eyes.

She hissed at me "I've seen that!" and then said goodbye.

"What was the name again?" she asked then and I repeated my words.

The woman sighed and then said, "Ah, okay. Yes, now I have something. That would be the third floor. Above you can talk with the nurse. And now goodbye."

"Thanks for your help," I muttered and walked to the elevator.

I waited a few seconds and looked back to the switch. The woman telephoned again, gesturing wildly and I could only roll my eyes.

Then came a sound and the elevator doors opened. I entered the elevator, pressed the button for the third floor and muttered "Hello" to the girl, which stood in a corner and looked down at her hands.

The girl said softly, "Hello."

Then she looked at me more closely and brushed back her hair.

"Hey, excuse me, but... Aren't you Justin Bieber?" she asked.

Even though I was still annoyed, I smiled at her and nodded.

"Yeah. And who are you?" I asked and she began to smile broadly.

Then she held out her hand and said "I'm Mel."

Mel. Melody. This name stuck in my heart and I swallowed the pain.

"Nice to meet you," I said, taking her hand and shook it.

We chatted briefly and precisely as the display of the elevator wanted to jump on point two, the elevator stopped dead and the colors on the display faded until they eventually disappeared completely. Mel clung to my arm and began to tremble.

"He- he's not stopped, right?" she asked frantically.

I looked at her reassuringly and said, "Don't worry... Everything will be okay."

Then I stretched out my hand and pressed the alarm button. We were waiting for something, but nothing happened.

"We don't move!" said Mel and I sighed.

"Don't worry," I repeated, but she just shook her head. As I wouldn't have noticed that this damn elevator didn't move.

"You don’t understand. I have claustrophobia!" she said and I stroked her reassuringly on her hair.

"Calm down, we'll be fine. Breathe deeply in and out," I said and smiled at her encouragingly. Mel tried to breathe, but shook her head.

"I... no air," she said, her eyes began to flutter.

Not again, I thought and caught her. Then I laid her carefully on the floor.

Slowly, I got a little scared and said, "Mel! Hey, Mel!"

Then I remembered what Vic and the others had made for Selena and tried to do everything like them.

"Hey," I said back then and stroked her a few hairs away.

"Melo- Uh, Mel. Hey, open your eyes," I said, but she only trembled slightly and didn't say anything. Apparently she came to herself, so I helped her up. I took off my jacket and put it around her.

"Are you okay?" I asked as she slowly opened her eyes. But then her cheeks turned slightly green and I tore my eyes.

"No, please don't," I said, but it was too late. She threw up on my jacket.

"Great," I said and sighed. She wiped her mouth.

Quietly, she whispered "I'm sorry" and smiled at me slightly.

"It's okay..." I said, swallowed and tried to smile back.

Mel closed her eyes and began to hum something. After a few strokes I recognized the melody and got inside.

"... 'Cause whenever, you smile, I smile. Hey, hey, hey. Your lips my biggest weakness, Should not have let you know, whoa. I'm always gonna do what they say, ey. If you need me I'll come right there from a thousand miles away... When you smile, I smile, ouuhohuoh, you smile, I smile, hey..." I sang and smiled at her as she opened her eyes.

"Why this song?" I asked interested.

"Whenever I sing ... or sum in this case... I calm down. I don't know," she said, shrugging her shoulders and start to sing up where I left off.

"Baby, take my open heart..." she sang and I got on.

The doors opened at the moment when Mel sang "... you smile..." and I finished the song with "... I smile."

We hadn't noticed that the elevator had moved again.

"Thank you," she said, then grimaced. "And, uh, your jacket… I'm really sorry."

I chuckled and said "No problem, you can keep it."

She laughed and muttered, "Well, thank you for this, too," and then smiled at me. "Can we take a picture? Otherwise nobody would believe me... " she said and I nodded. She took a few pictures of us and then thanked me again.

"You're welcome," I said, smiling and wanted to leave the elevator, but saw that she was not following me.

"Didn't you want to this floor, too?" I asked, but she shook her head.

"No, I still have one floor up," she said and I nodded.

So she had claustrophobia, but rather entered an elevator than walked up the stairs? Well, maybe she hadn't any stamina.

"Okay, then... bye," I said with a smile and left the elevator. Then I turned around again and said, "Maybe we'll meet again... Take care, Melody."

She looked at me confused and then asked, "Who is Melody?"

And of course in that moment the elevator doors closed.

I frowned and sighed. Melody Sullivan. Mel was right. Who was Melody at all?

I shook my head and tried to get rid of thoughts. Then I walked down the floor and looked again and again to enable the ward sister. When I finally found her, she was sitting in a room with large windows and rummaged through her papers. She looked no older than twenty-three and chewed gum. I knocked softly on the door frame and then easily walked into the room.

"Excuse me," I began, and she had burst her bubble gum.

"One moment please, I'll be there for you," she said and I sighed annoyed.

Who the hell hired employees in this hospital?

She arranged papers in a binder and finally turned around.

"Well, what can I do for... Aren't you Justin Bieber?" she asked, looking at me with wide eyes.

"Yeah. Yeah, I am," I said and she began to smile.

"I'm Britney. What can I do for you?" she asked.

"The woman at the information below has sent me up here. I'm seeking Selena Gomez," I said and she nodded.

"Yes, Ms. Gomez was admitted today afternoon. Come, I will accompany you," she said, and together we left the small room.

Slowly all the tension fell away from me and I began to smile again. I was about to see Selena.
