8. Do's And Don'ts

Hours later we were sitting in my room, ate ice cream and played truth or dare. And yes, I know how cliché that is.

I laughed and said, "Okay, okay. Now it's my turn. "

I took the bottle and turned it. Fortunately, it pointed to Mel, as it stopped and I had to grin.

"Oh no! But I take... dare" said Mel and my grin got wider. Perfect. Chris smiled at her, which I of course didn't miss. This time I wanted to do everything right and obviously a certain chemistry between the two agreed.

"Okay, Mel. Hm... Kiss Chris," I called and both stared at me while Chaz and Ryan began to laugh.

"What?" said Mel and Chris in unison and I shrugged.

"You took dare and that is your task," I said and laughed at their perplexed faces.

"But she can't-" Chris protested, but there were already Mels lips on his. Surprised, he returned her kiss and I had to grin. Chaz roared and clapped, while Ryan and I laughed.

"You can also stop again, if you want," I said, laughing.

Chris broke away from Mel and smiled at her. She smiled back, ate another spoonful of ice cream and then took the bottle. She turned it and of course it stopped at me.

I laughed and said "Not again! But okay, I'll take truth."

Mel thought for a moment and then asked, "Who is Melody?"

Chris, Chaz and Ryan looked at me in surprise and I looked at Mel in surprise.

"Uh," I said, and wanted to come up with a good excuse, but my brain seemed to have a blackout. How could she of all the things she could aske choose this topic? She had to be pretty attentive.

"Uh, I thought your full name would be Melody..." I said, hoping that they believed me this lie.

Mel began to laugh, but the question mark from Chris, Ryan and Chaz faces didn't disappear.

"No, I'm Melara, but actually everyone calls me Mel."

I agreed doubtfully in her laugh, while the others still looked questioningly at us.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Ryan finally asked and I stood up.

"You explain it to them, I must go, um, and get replenishment" I said, waving my empty ice cream cup and left as soon as possible my room.

In the kitchen I threw away the empty cup and looked at my phone.

No new message, no missed calls.

In my mind different memories of Mel flashed. Her laugh, her eyes, her smile.

My heart ached. I knew I couldn't forget this girl and that there was only one way to see her again.

So I opened the chat of Lauren and me and wrote that I hoped she was okay and should call me sometimes. I wrote her my number and closed the chat again.

I put my phone back in my pocket and went without another cup upstairs to my room.

Mel just seemed to be finished with the story as I came in and all smiled at me.

Ryan noticed the expression on my face and asked, "Hey, man. Are you okay?"

I said "Was a long day, I'm a bit of a headache and it's quite late, you know..."

Melara understood as first and got up.

"I'm sorry, then we'd better go now," she said, taking her things. The boys stood up to her and Melara hugged me.

"Get well soon," she wished me and I smiled.

"Thanks," I said. Chaz and Ryan nodded and Chris looked around, frowning.

"Hey! And who'll drive me home?" he asked. Chaz made a face and Melara laughed.

"That's okay, I'll do it," she said and he smiled at her.

I accompanied them to the door; Chaz and Ryan disappeared first. Chris put on his shoes and then rubbed his neck.

"Uh, so... I'm really sorry, uh, the kiss," he said and looked at her apologetically.

"Really?" she asked and went to him. "Because I'm not," she said and kissed him again.

I had to grin wide and as they again broke away from each other, she took his hand.

"See you, Justin," she said and smiled at me. Then they walked holding hands to her car. Just before Chris got in, he turned again to look at me and smiled.

"Thank you," he mouthed and I smiled at him. Then he got in and they drove off. I sighed and closed the door.

The next morning I had just finished my breakfast when there was a knock at my door.

"Yes?" I called and the door was opened.

"Hey," said a tall boy and I jumped up.

"David!" I said, ran up to him and hugged him. He quickly closed the door and hugged me tightly. As we parted, he handed me a box of chocolates.

"Here, so hopefully you'll be better soon," he said and I smiled at him.

"Aw, thanks," I said and went to the table to put it there. Then I sat down on my bed and he pulled up a chair.

"So, what's up?" he asked and I sighed before I told him everything from yesterday. David nodded and listened to everything.

"Oh, wow. And what do you mean?" he asked and I shook my head.

"That's the problem... I don't know," I said and looked at him doubtfully. "I just don't know what to do. I feel so much for Taylor, just because he is Taylor. I know what I feel for him when we are together. He makes me laugh, but of course also cry. He can still hurt me and as you can see, he still has a lot of influence on me. It's just that I somehow never really got over our break up. He just decided overnight without telling me what's going on. He just left me back." I snorted and David looked at me long. Then he got up and sat down next to me.

"So, I'll tell you my opinion on the subject now. Taylor doesn't deserve you. He had such a long time to talk to you and to win you back, so why he waits until you're happy? Honestly, I can't understand him there. He's a douche and you know that." I laughed.

"And Justin? Unfortunately I don't really know him. But he makes you happy and he cares about you. He also gives you time to think, not every boy would do that..." he said and then looked away.

Something was missing yet, anything that he wouldn't tell me.

"And?" I asked.

"It's just..." he began, looking at me. Then smiled and shook his head. "Nothing."

I smiled, shook my head vigorously and said, "Now tell me, you know that you can trust me. And I trust in your judgment."

He looked at his hands and said, "Yeah, well, It's the same as Taylor."

Finally he looked at me and I stared at him blankly.

"What? What do you mean?" I asked and he looked at me seriously.

"I love you too, Selena," he admitted.

I stared at him and said "No. No. That's not true. No, David."

He looked at me for a moment longer seriously and then burst into laughter.

"Fooled," he said, and I took a load of my heart.

"You scared me to death," I said, slapping him lightly.

"I'm sorry, but that had to be," he said and hugged me. I made me press him per se, but made no move to hug him too.

"Asshole," I said and he laughed again. Then he let go of me and I grinned at him.

"So, honestly now, you have to forget Taylor. He doesn't deserve you. Justin makes you much happier. Actually, the decision must be really easy..." he said and I sighed.

"Actually, it must," I said.

The next afternoon, our parents had come home from their business trip and had brought a gift for each of us.

I sat on my bed, holding with one hand the pendant of Drews chain and turned to the other page of my new book. When I was touched, I jumped startled and looked around.

"Woah, Lauren," I complained and she just rolled their eyes.

"Mom and Dad have called us, come on," she said, nodding her head to my door.

I put my book down, not without inserting a bookmark, and then followed her down the stairs. Below, Matt was sitting on the sofa and we sat next to him. Dad walked up and down in front of the sofa, while Mom sat on a chair. This didn't look good.

"We have to tell you something," he finally began and stopped walking around.

"And what?" Matt asked annoyed while Lauren said, "I was about to meet with Candice. She doesn't come so often to Los Angeles and I haven't seen her for ages."

"This is important!" our father said and Matt stood up. Lauren looked at my mom and I followed her gaze.

"Listen to your father, Matthew," she said, looking at him sternly.

I reached out for Matt's arm and said, "Come on, Matt."

He looked at me, shook his head and finally sat down again. He hung his head, staring at his feet. I looked back at mom and she nodded.

"Okay, Stefan. Tell them," she said, and I looked back at my dad.

"Listen closely. We were treated. In another district," he said and I stared at him for a moment.

"Wait a minute. Does that mean, that we...?" I asked, hoping fervently that the answer would be "No".

But my dad nodded and said "Yes. We will be moving."

Matt jerked his head up and asked "What?"

Lauren stood up as she said, "But- but... You can't do that!"

I grabbed the wrist of my sister and watched my parents, which now stood side by side.

"That can only be a bad joke," I said, but mom shook her head.

"I'm really, really sorry. But we can't do anything about it. We would also like to stay here."

Lauren ripped away from me going and wanted to say something, but dad said "No re-issue! In a week we have to start there!"

Slowly but surely I realized what I was about to lose.

Dan. Harry. All my other friends.

Our house. My room. All the memories.

Tears welled up in my eyes and I stood up.

"But then we have to start all over again! I hate you," I said and ran to my room. The tears ran down my cheeks when I locked the door behind me and then slide her down.

Matt looked after Mel and was angry. "Melody is right! You guys have no idea how hard that is for us! For each of us," he said angrily.

Dad went up to him and said "Son. Even for us it isn't easy, but you must understand."

He stretched out his hand to place it on his shoulder, but Matt dodged him.

"Don't touch me!" he yelled and left the house. My parents looked after him and then looked at me. Still the tears ran down my face and I wiped them away quickly.

"Don't look at me like that," I said, following my brother.
