Ditched (A Harry Styles FanFic)

"As long as you keep trying to make things better, you'll be on the right track.''
''What if I mess up?"
"Then you start again."
"Will you be with me if I mess up?"
"I'll always be here."
Elizabeth was an average 19-year old that was on a cross country trip through Europe with her best friend Carson. Until Carson ditched her with purely innocent motives. Now, as Elizabeth is on her own in the United Kingdom she meets five boys. Due to her lack of musical knowledge, she doesn't recognize them as One Direction, but is eager to welcome them as friends no matter who or what they are. Harry is awestruck by Elizabeth and her personality and soon begins to fancy her. Elizabeth isn't the type of girls he's used to however, and when he does something that might bring back bad memories, will they be able to pull through for the better?

12. Life-Alert

***Harry's P.O.V.***

9:00, hmmmm. Elizabeth has been in the shower for a while, and I can't help but have the LifeAlert commercial go through my head. You know, the whole 'help me, I've fallen and I can't get up!' thing. I shook my heard to shake all the bad thoughts out. She's fine Harry, stop it with your over reactive imagination. UGH, I can't take it. I walked to the door of her room and knocked on the door, no answer. I turned the doorknob, surprised to find that it was unlocked. Slowly, I stepped inside and shut the door behind me, being careful not to make any noise.

"Ohhhhh, everybody's got a story to tell," I heard Elizabeth sing from inside of the bathroom. I stopped where I was at and stared at the bathroom door curiously. "And everybody's got a wound to be healed," she continued in her sweet and melodic voice.

I didn't recognize the sing she was singing but it sounded slow and sweet. Then I remembered when the boys and I had first met her. She had something about our music not being the type that she listened to. This must be the type that she did listen to. I enjoyed the song until she stopped singing and the water cut off.

I had an internal freak-out session when I realized that she was coming out but it was too late to leave. She stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her hair and another wrapped loosely around her body. She was humming the tune to the song she had been singing in the bathroom. (Need you now by plumb, it should be on the side by tomorrow or tonight due to me writing this on the phone now). When she looked up and saw me she squealed and pulled the towel around her tightly. "Hiiiiii," I said plainly even though my heart was beating impossibly fast.

"Harry!" she said in surprise, her cheeks bright red. "What are you doing in here?" she asked, her voice flustered and I chuckled because, lets face it; it was adorable.

"The door was unlocked," I stated with a shrug.

"And you just... what if.... what if...." she stumbled on her words.

"What if what?" I prompted.

"What if I had walked out without a towel?" she questioned in exasperation.

"You didn't," I said simply.

"What if I had?" she challenged as she grabbed her clothes for the club.

"I would have covered my eyes?" I said but it came out as more of a question. She huffed and walked back to the bathroom, closing the door when she was inside. "It's almost time to go to the club," I told her.

"I know, I won't be long," she called back through the door. Then she started laughing, "oh, and why do you have towels with your and the boys faces on them?"

I chuckled and replied, "oh, that's band merchandise, Louis thought it'd be funny to buy them and I ran out of towels so, yeah."

She continued laughing for a bit longer, "will the boys drink tonight?"

Her tone had turned serious and I shrugged though she couldn't see me, "most likely, Liam might not though."

"What about you, Curly?" she questioned.

"Maybe," I answered.

"Just don't leave me all alone," she begged.

I smiled at her words and fiddled with my white t-shirt. "Afraid of getting lost?" I joked.

"Yes," she answered seriously and that's when I realized that she had stepped out of the bathroom. I looked up at her and struggled to keep my jaw from dropping. She was wearing a loose and frilly pink shirt with sequins placed all around it. Her shorts were short, but not nearly as short as most of the girls shorts that will be there. I noticed that a light shade of pink was dusted onto her eyelids but not caked on like half the girls in the world wear their makeup. She was simple and amazing. "Are the shorts fine?" she asked.

"You look amazing," I stated in awe.

She raised her eyebrows, "that's not what I asked, Curly."

I cleared my throat, "oh, yeah, sorry. They're perfect." She smiled at me and then grabbed my hand, pulling me off of the bed. I ended up leading her to the living room in the end though. The boys were already there waiting for us and when we entered the room they stood. "C'mon guys," I said, nodding my head towards the door of my flat. We were all riding in the same car so that whoever was still sober could drive us all home. It would probably be Liam due to the fact that he was the responsible one. Plus, he told me that he was babysitting Megan's little sister Olivia the next day and babysitting with a hangover is never fun.

When we got to the club we walked through the VIP entrance, after showing the bouncer our IDs. The air in the club was sticky and humid from all the sweaty people. The dance floor was covered with dancing people and the bar was a mess of people. 'Not Your Birthday,' played in the background and the boys immediately dispersed into the crowd. I looked at Elizabeth who seemed overwhelmed by all the noise and stench of alcohol. I grabbed her hand and pulled her towards me as we looked out at the people from the VIP lounge.

"What are they doing?" she asked, pointing to one of the couples on the dim dance floor.

I gave her a curious look, "they're dancing."

"That is NOT dancing," she said, shaking her head, "that's just rubbing up against someone."

I laughed, "they're probably drunk."

She scoffed, though her smile showed that she was amused, "someone should stop them before they attack each other."

I just shook my head at her pure thinking. She laughed as I guided her to one of the couches in the lounge. Across from us a young looking couple was kissing and even though I smiled at the scene I wondered how a pair of kids managed to get in here.

"This is so weird," she muttered and I looked at her.

"It's like I'm back at one of my old high school dances."

I chuckled and then started to laugh hysterically when I heard a familiar song come on.

Elizabeth looked at me like I was crazy, "are you okay?"

"I'm great," I said, "this is one of our songs."

She looked at me with wide eyes, "really?"

"Yeah," I confirmed, as I mumbled the words to the song.

Her eyes lit up as she listened, "is that you?" I nodded smiling as she rose from the couch slightly. "Zayn?" I nodded. "Liam?" again I nodded. "Niall?" I nodded slowly after seeing how her smile brightened. Then near the end of 'Heart Attack' a voice rang out from the crowd and we both laughed. "Louis," she nodded as we laughed at him singing his own part.

"How'd you know?" I joked.

"I don't know, I must be a genius," she giggled. Once we were done laughing she sighed, "you guys sound great."

"Thanks, remind me to show you the rest of our songs."

"You're kidding," she said in disbelief. We had been sitting on the couch in the lounge for an hour or so. I had just finished telling her about how Gemma and I had tried to give our cat a bath. (I don't know if that actually happened but it'd be hilarious if it did). As soon as the words left her mouth a very drunk Louis stumbled into the lounge, coming over to us and pulling me off of the couch. I laughed as he slurred his words.

"C'mon Harold, 'ave some funn," he slurred as he pulled me out of the lounge and towards the crowded bar. I looked back to see Elizabeth trying to follow after us and I was going to reach out to her but Louis kept pulling me along. I was too intoxicated by the dancing people's happiness that I didn't notice the horrified look on her face. I sat down with Louis at the bar as he ordered me a drink. I could feel it making me calmer after the first glass, and before I new it, everything was tipsy. (I've never been tipsy- and I hope I never will be- so I don't know what it's like). I could hear someone calling my name and I looked around to see where the voice was coming from. My eyes met Liam's and he seemed to be pointing at something. I turned to look at where he was pointing and my eyes went wide when I saw it.

Elizabeth was in the middle of the dance floor and she was looking around frantically. A drunk twenty-year-old held onto her wrists, pulling her closer to himself. His face neared hers dangerously but she turned her head and his lips connected with her cheek. I jumped off of my seat and pushed towards where her and the stranger were. Anger bubbled inside of me and I pushed the last dancer out of my way. When I reached them I grabbed the guys shoulder and he looked towards me. I glanced at Elizabeth whose eyes were wide and full of fear.

"Let go dude, can't you see I'm busy," the stranger said, his words slurring.

"Get away from her," I growled.

He released Elizabeth and turned his full attention to me, "or what?"

Before I realized what I had done, my fist connected with his nose. He fell onto his bottom, clutching his nose and muttering curse words. "I said get away," I warned. I turned towards Elizabeth who was breathing irregularly as her eyes grew wider. I grabbed her hand and took her back to the lounge, but her breathing didn't calm down. I looked into her eyes that were filled with panic. "What's wrong?" I asked her.

"P-panic a-a- attack-ck," she stuttered through a breath. My heart beat was crazy and I started to freak out but then forced myself to take a deep breath.

"Okay, Elizabeth, look at me," her eyes seemed to dart around everywhere before finally landing on my face. "Just keep looking at me," I instructed. She obeyed and her breathing seemed to slightly calm. "Breathe in," I commanded gently. She did what I said and then exhaled, continuing until she was calm. As soon as she was calm my adrenaline washed away and the tipsy feeling was back.

She hugged me as if the world was ending and I wrapped my arms around her tightly. "I told you not to leave me," she whispered.

"You didn't tell me that you would have a panic attack," I defended myself.

"Now you know," she mumbled, "it hadn't happened in a while."

I pulled away from her, "what triggered them?"

Her face turned blank when I said the words, "my mom, um, lost me in a store one time."

I could tell that she was lying but I couldn't push any further due to Liam walking into the lounge with the other boys stumbling in behind him. "We should go," he said and I looked behind him to see the guy I had punched trying to get into the lounge.

When I woke up I had a huge headache, and I cursed Louis for bringing home that extra alcohol. I rolled over and out of bed, heading to my door and then to Elizabeth's room. After getting no reply I opened the door and walked in, seeing no Elizabeth anywhere. I quickly checked the whole house before cursing. I started to comb through my curls and paced around the room. Oh crap, OH crap, OH CRAP! Where is she?

Yay! -blows kisses- I love you all!
