Something in Common

When bad boy Jason Pierce moves into town, Eden Hartell finds herself awe-struck from the moment they lay eyes on each other. Through trouble, heart-break, plenty of black eyes and a lot of explaining to do, Eden and Jason find themselves falling in love...

6. Trouble

I opened the gate at the end of the pathway. When I was out on the open street, I noticed the four boys stamping out cigarettes. They started towards me.

'Want a smoke, honey?' one of them ask confidently. He was a tall, black haired guy with two lip piercings. He was oddly attractive in his black shirt and ripped jeans. His beanie hung loose over his mopped hair.

'No thanks,' I replied coolly. I looked all four of them up and down as they passed around a pack of Pall Mall. It landed at my feet. I stared at it, disgusted.

'You sure?' the smallest asked, running a hand through his own black curls. I noticed all four of them were dressed similar, with the same hair and the strangest pitch black eyes. No wonder Jason hung around with them. They were virtually the same guys - apart from the different piercings and facial features. And, I guessed, names.

'Nah, I'm good,' I pressed, glancing nervously towards the house Jason had walked into. It was strange to think I hadn't noticed them moving in - if they were moving in. I guess I was so tied down with studying and meeting up with Maddy.

Jason stood in the top floor window, watching our every move. I shifted uncomfortably under his stare. It sent shivers down my spine. He looked so dead, but so alive. He looked so angry, but so hot.

When I looked away, the guy with the two lip piercings licked his lips. I started to back up, and immediately spun on the spot. Then I started down the street.

'Where you going?' he called after me. I heard them start to walk.

'Away from you!' I yelled in reply.

I started to run, and once I heard the pounding of footsteps behind me, I didn't stop to look back.
