The Girl With Blue Hair.

Maxine and her two sisters moved to a new neighborhood, they're more rough-n-tough, but Maxine starts to get feelings for a guy. Who's a total nerd, and usually sticks around his friends.
But, when Maxine needs tutoring, he steps forward automatically. Does he like her back?
(Uh, I think it's best to add that this is inspired by an old TV show I loved called Edd, Ed, and Eddy)

2. Chapter One.

"Max! Mom left me in charge while she's at work!" Kace called up the stair case.

"Right, I don't care!" I called back down. I sighed and flopped onto my bed. I looked around my room, gray walls, hardwood flooring, and purple ceiling. My bed was an iron brass frame and black sheets covered it. I had my band posters tacked onto the walls, and the window that faced the river had purple curtains. There was a white desk with my computer on it, and then there was a lamp next to it.

I let out a long sigh and picked up my iPhone, I played 'A Trophy Fathers Trophy Son' by Sleeping With Sirens. I stared blankly up at the ceiling. We just moved here, wherever here is. I honestly didn't know one hundred percent, but all I knew is that we were on the outskirts of a little town. There was a cul-de-sac a little past the river, but I didn't really want to do get up and walk over there.

Today was Saturday. Tomorrow was Sunday. Then it was the last week before school started again.

School. Eww.

I got up from my bed and looked out my window, I sat down on the window seat and put my face against the cool glass pane. I had the attic, there were three stories to my house and I got the top room.

Outside trees were shedding their summer colors for traditional fall reds, oranges, yellows, and browns. It was beautiful, really. The grass was scarce around out house, but I didn't care. On the other side of the river the grass was a lush green, I could see the shops set up on the other side but they seemed quiet.

The town itself seemed quiet. We moved from New York, I'm so used to tons of people, where is everyone?

I sigh and rest my chin on the palm of my hand. This is ridiculous. Not a soul in sight, and this was the last week of summer.

I saw three people start walking and I squinted my eyes to get a better look.

The tallest one was wearing a black and white baseball t-shirt and blue jeans. He had buzz cut black hair and was laughing hard at something.

The shortest one was making a weird face, laughing and leaning against the tallest one. He had on a black muscle tank top with a restaurant logo printed on it, and red straight legged pants. His red sneakers stood out against the grass, I could see a wallet chain peaking out from his pocket. He had short black hair with frosted tips, I crinkled my nose in disgust.

Then there was the middle one, he was smiling and shaking his head at the two, his black hair hidden underneath a beanie, he was wearing a dark colored jacket (either blue or black I couldn't tell) with a white t-shirt underneath. He also had on black pants similar to the short friend of his, he crossed his arms over his chest and his head dipped forward as he laughed.

I watched them as they walked up to the river and pulled a plank of wood out from underneath some bushes and put it across the banks. The shortest one crossed first, then the taller one, the other hesitated then finally crossed. He shoved his hands in his pockets and looked around, almost as if he was afraid of something.

I sighed as I watched them walk away. They went into the woods that were just out of reach of my house. I got up and stepped into my closet, I studied myself in the mirror; a black long sleeve shirt, white skinny jeans, black Vans, and my blue hair was tied into a ponytail. The dark eyeliner stood out against my pale skin, and the light blue eye shadow complimented my gray eyes.

I sighed, I put on a jacket and then grabbed my phone and ear buds. I went downstairs, my two sisters- Kace and Gwyn- were sitting on the couch watching TV.

Kace was the oldest, she had short red hair that was cut into a bob. She was wearing a sweater and shorts, she chewed on gum and didn't glance at me as I left.

Gwyn was the youngest. She had long blonde hair and was wearing a gray shirt and black skinny jeans. She glanced up at me and asked, "Where are you going?"

"For a walk, I'm bored." I say simply.

"Take your keys," Kace reminds me. I nod and grab a my keychain out of the ceramic bowl Gwyn made a few years ago at school. I walk outside and the crisp air hits me hard. Why is it so cold?

I wrap my jacket around myself tighter and start to walk. I pop in an ear bud  and start looking for a good song on my phone. I decide on 'Na Na Na' by My Chemical Romance. I start walking along the river, I'm not looking for the guys I saw earlier, but the middle of the group sure was cute.

I saw the plank they used to cross the river, I don't see a name on it. It looks like it's about to slip from this side of the bank so I kneel down and pull it closer. It stays and I smile to myself.

I stand back up then continue walking.

I turn and see the three guys from earlier. The shorter one looks irritated, the taller has a confused look and the middle apologetically smiles at me from behind the two.

"Hi ya." I say simply.

"What did you do to our board?" The shorter one snaps.

"I pulled it back onto the bank, it looked like it was going to fall into the river." I say calmly.

"See, Skylar? I told you it wasn't secure." The middle one accuses. He steps forward and holds his hand out to me. "I apologize for my friend, my name's Trey, that's Duncan," he pauses and nods at the taller one. "Skylar already introduced himself." He smiles at me, and I smile back.

I shake his hand. "My name's Maxine, call me Max."

"You just moved here, correct? I thought I saw a moving truck a week ago or so, but I never really saw anyone." He tells me.

I'm a little shocked by how well he speaks. "Yeah, my mom, and two sisters."

He offers me a small smile and looks at the ground. He puts his hands back in his pockets and glances back at his friends.

"Let's go Trey." Skylar says impatiently.

"Yeah, uh, so I'll see you at school, right?" Trey asks me.

"Yeah, sure." I say with a smile. He smiles back and Skylar calls his name again.

"Well, goodbye!" Trey calls over his shoulder. He rushes to cross the river and join his friends.

I watch them for a second or two, then turn and continue walking. I keep thinking of Trey's bright blue eyes. He's beautiful, he really is.

Skylar seems to have a temper, and Duncan seems to be a little quiet. They seem like a nice group of guys though. I keep walking until my legs get tired and I walk back home.
