6. Poem #6

Shooting Stars

They say to close your eyes and make a wish.

Well, I made a wish but the star must've missed.

It was so supposed to fall into your hands

And lead you to where I stand,

But somehow, that poor star got lost on its way,

And still, I stand by the bay.

That star was supposed to bring you to me,

Not now, not soon, but somehow, someway.

For however many years it will take,

I will still be here standing,

Waiting by the edge of this lake.

I won't ever love another, because you're all my heart can take.

I'll rip my heart out for you

If that's what it will take.

Lost at a sea,

Drowned in melancholy,

By the lake I stand,

Waiting.

Longing.
