Bay Celeste lives in a world were you are born a witch, a vampire, a werewolf, a fairy, or a hunter. The baby's tears choose one of the elements; extreme curiosity, extreme beauty, extreme strength, extreme naivety, or extreme violence, and your talents arise from there. But there's something wrong with Bay. She couldn't cry the day she was born. Due to this altercation, Bay has grown up with everything. She could cast spells like a witch, she was gorgeous like a vampire, she could read her friends's thoughts like a werewolf, she could fly like a fairy, and she had the instinct to kill vampires, witches, and werewolves like a Hunter. So when she reaches the age of sixteen, she has to choose along with fours others. One single choice could change Bay's life forever.

6. Chapter 6

It was Thursday. That meant tomorrow was the moment of truth. I get out of bed and put on a purple miniskirt and loose black blouse with matching flats. I took Rector's advice and dyed the ends of my hair purple and I throw it up into a high ponytail. It was these mornings when I was happy that I had pretty vampire on my face. Jogging downstairs, i wave my parents goodbye and fly to school on my heloporter. The old fashioned witches, like the teachers, used broomsticks. I hated them. They were way too hard to balance on, and I hated the bristles that poked my back. When I get to the highschool, I was still kind of amazed at the severe separation among us. But by now I was used to it. The witches ran the school, flanked by vampires and the occasional fairy. The werewolves were another word for outcasts. They didn't leave their kind, and were mortal enemies with the vampires. We were friends with them, so the werewolves became our enemies too. Then there were the fairies. They were pastel and bright colored tipsy things. They were really funny friends, but most of them are too stupid to concentrate. Lastly, there were the hunters. Everyone but the fairies hated them. They were responsible for the murders of at least ten vampires last semester. The leader was Morgan Blake. She had long blonde hair and almost neon green eyes. She could kill anyone and anything; even her fellow Hunter. Everyone said she's a fluke because hunters only have brown or auburn hair. Morgan was strange, but you didn't cross her. You'd die before you blinked twice, it doesn't matter what mythical creature you were. She'd kill you anyway. I jump off my heloporter and fold it up, sliding it in my backpack before walking into the school. My vampire friend Andy immediately comes next to me. "Hey Bay!" She giggles, poking me with her elbow. Her red hair was in a high ponytail and she wore her cheerleading uniform with white sneakers. Her brown eyes sparkled; like usual. That was the good thing about vampires. They were always beautiful. But if I was a witch I could always freeze time..... She pinches my arm, tearing me out of my thoughts. "Ouch!" Andy's pinches felt like someone took a blowtorch and mixed it with gasoline on your arm. Sure enough there were two punctures, purple blood oozing out of them. I make a potion with my other hand and brush it over my arm. My skin immediately returns to normal. Andy applauds. "You're so lucky you're a witch!" She sighs. I snort. "You're lucky to be a vampire." She laughs her tinkly laugh before her nose wrinkles and her brown contacts immediately melt away, replaced by flaming red ones. "Get the hell out of here or it's the last thing you'll do." She growls, already in a stance. Next to me was one of my werewolf friends, Jackson. He looks her up and down before laughing. "Doll, I suggest you keep your pretty mouth shut because all I have to do is cut off your head and burn your body." The tension is so thick, I gag. "It's not my fault you stink." Andy snaps, hands on her hips. Jackson narrows his eyes. "Please, Andy. I've smelt shit that was better than you." Andy goes ballistic, and before her fangs touch Jackson's neck, she gets yanked back by both of her arms. She was being held back by a Hunter girl and.....Rector? He nods at me once before releasing Andy. The Hunter girl already had her crossbow aimed at the small of Andy's back. Andy wrinkles her nose. "See you in class, Bay." She takes off at lightning speed into the school, so fast there's smoke on the disheveled grass behind her. I sigh. "Thanks Rector." The Hunter girl immediately turns the crossbow onto me, and I hold my arms up in surrender. She looks me over before narrowing her eyes. "You smell funny. What the hell are you?" Rector jumps to my defense. "Kenzie meet Bay." He glances at me once. "My friend Bay. She's a witch." The girl he called Kenzie puts up her crossbow and offers me a hand. It was calloused and bruised. It was a faint scar, but with my eyes, I could see the words she etched into her skin. Ugly. I gulp and brush off her handshake. "Nice meeting you, Kenzie." I nod at Rector before walking swiftly into Patterson High, not looking back.
