2. Chapter 1

"Aria!" my mother yells. I snap my eyes open and then slowly close them again. Today's the day. "Aria, get up!" my mother yells again from the kitchen. I sigh and force myself to get out of bed. The warm sheets uncover my body and I shudder from the sudden cold air. "Aria!"

"I'm up!" I yell back. I trudge over to the bathroom to take a shower. I step into the hot water and think about the day. I spent all of high school anticipating college. Now that I'm actually going to it, I'm pretty nervous. My skin reddens from the water and I quickly snap back to my senses to wash my hair.

"Aria!" my mother yells once more.

"I'm coming! I'm coming!" I yell. Sometimes she just doesn't know when to stop. After changing into some of my usual clothes, I head into the kitchen. Conner sits at the table waiting for me.

"Hey college girl," Conner gives me a smirk as I sit next to him.

"Hey college boy," I grin and peck Conner on the cheek.

"The table is no place for affection," my mother interrupts us. I sigh and sit back down. "Now eat your breakfast, you want to have energy for the rest of this important day." My mother sets a bowl of oatmeal in front of me. Plain oatmeal like always.

"You're not eating?" I ask Conner.

"I already ate at my house," Conner replies. I continue eating the tasteless oatmeal. I see why Conner didn't want to eat here.

"There's my baby girl," my father walks in from the front door, newspaper in hand. I look up and smile. "Who's excited for college?" I chuckle when Conner raises his hand. My dad looks expectantly at me and I raise my hand half way up as well. "That's my girl." My dad smiles and takes a seat at the the end of the table.

"We have to leave soon. Do you have everything ready to go?" my mother asks, setting dishes into the sink.

"All packed," I finish off the rest off my oatmeal and set my bowl into the sink as well. "I'm going to get my bags right now."

"I'll help," Conner gets up and follows me into my room. Once we enter the small room I call my bedroom, Conner starts picking up some of my bags. I watch the boy with a sweater vest and khakis walk out of my room. He comes in after a few minutes and looks at me.

"What?" I ask.

"Why are you just standing there with bags in your hands?" Conner chuckles. I look down and realize I do have my bags in my hand.

"I guess I just got caught up in my thoughts," I say, walking towards the door. Conner puts a hand on my shoulder to stop me.

"What's wrong?" He takes the bags out of my hands and sets them down.

"I'm just going to miss this place," I sigh. "At least I'll have you with me."

"Of course," Conner plants a small kiss on my forehead. "but we have to go. Don't want to be late!"

"You're right," I pick up the bags again but they are taken away by Conner. "Thank you," I smile.

...

"Don't forget to set you alarm for the mornings," my mother reminds me.

"I won't mother," I say, knowing for sure I wont. I never forget anything.

"Don't attend parties and don't stay up too late either," she reminds me over and over again. I reassure her that I wont and she just keeps telling me the same thing. "I'll miss you so much." she hugs me tightly but the hug is over before I can hug her back. She gives me her best smile and then moves on to hug Conner.

"My little baby isn't a baby anymore, is she?" my father steps up in front of me. I smile and he smiles, showing off the crinkles by his eyes.

"I'll miss you dad," I hug him tightly. All of these years, I've been closer to my dad then I'll ever be to my mom.

"I'll miss you too my little girl," I feel a kiss on the top of my head. "Conner?" my dad lets go of me and faces my boyfriend.

"Yes, sir?" Conner is poised, ready for anything my father as to say.

"Take care of my daughter, will you?" my dad smiles and pats Conner on the back.

"I will. She's safe with me," Conner returns a smile and pulls me into his side. I look up and my eyes brightened at his sight. I watch my parents get into the white Buick parked on the curb of the street. Conner and I wave goodbye as they pull out into the street.

"I'm going to miss them," I say, checking if any tears left my eyes.

"I know you will," Conner gives me a tight squeeze and then starts picking up our bags. After attempting to grab the rest, I follow Conner up to my dorm.

When we get to my dorm room and I open the door, I stop dead in my tracks. The room is filled with 5 guys and a girl, all with tattoos.

"Oh, hey!" the tattooed girl stands up and smiles. Her shoulder length, dark brown hair is colored with 4 different colors. "So you're my new roommate?" She stands the same height as me but if it wasn't for her heals, she would be at least  4 inches shorter.

"Uhm, yeah," I try my best to smile. I'm not used to hanging around people like my new roommate. I look past her at the 5 strangers sitting on both her and my bed.

"Oh, I'm sorry," she faces them and places her hand on her hip. "get off her bed you asses," I'm taken aback by the way she called her friends. At least I think they're her friends. They boys laugh a little and obey.

"We love you too," the blond headed boy says, shaking his hand and smiling.

"Where are my manners? I'm Alisa," She gives me a warm smile. "and these are the douchbags I call my friends."

"Alisa having manners? Ha!" Another one of the boys laughs. I notice a tiny teacup on his arm.

"I'm Aria, Aria Woods." I reach my hand out to shake Alisa's hand but she goes in for a hug. I'm a little surprised but  I gently hug her back. I hear Conner clear his throat behind me. "This is Conner, my boyfriend." I introduce Conner for everyone.

"I'm Niall," the blond headed guy says. I notice he speaks with an Irish accent.

"I'm Louis," the boy with the teacup tattoo smiles a perky smile. I'm introduced to Zayn and Liam as well. Everyone but Niall has a British accent. "Introduce yourself, Harry." Louis jabs the curly haired boy with his elbow.

"Fuck off, Louis," Harry scowls.

"Well, we'll just leave you to unpack," Liam starts leaving, dragging Harry along with him. The scowl is still present on Harry's face as he exits the door. One by one, Zayn, Louis, and Niall leave the small dorm room, apology written on their faces.

"Sorry for Harry," Alisa breaks the awkward silence. "he can be really stubborn."

"It's fine," is all I say while Conner sets my bags on the small bed I will now call mine.

"If you want, I can show you guys around," Alisa offers. "It's my third year here at the University of Washington."

"Thank you but I think we'll be fine," Conner answers after seeing me have difficulty answering.

"Well here's my number if you need anything," Alisa hands me a slip of pink paper with her number scribbled onto it. Does she always have her number written on pieces of paper, ready to go? Alisa walks out of the dorm room and I'm left alone with Conner.

"Do you want me to help you unpack?" Conner begins unzipping my biggest suitcase.

"You should actually go see your own dorm room. I'll be here when your done unpacking." I smile and Conner nods, taking off with his own bags to his own dorm. I'm almost done hanging up my dress shirts and dresses when I hear a knock at the door. Expecting Conner, I opened the door with a smile but it was swept away by the sight of the curly haired boy.

"Is Alisa here?" he says, eyeing me up and down with a scornful look.

"No," I reply.

"Then I'll wait for her," he pushes past me and sits on Alisa's bed. I was taken by surprise at his use of force that I almost fell over.

"Have you ever heard of a thing called manners?" I state. I feel suddenly confident.

"I don't do manners," Harry pulls out his phone and doesn't meet my gaze. I take this time to take in his appearance. A simple black t-shirt with tight black skinny jeans. He's wearing dark brown boots which completes his look. "What are you staring at?" I snap out of it and furrow my eyebrows.

"You didn't even see me look at you," I cross my arms across my chest and Harry's hate filled eyes stare into my crystal blue ones.

"It's called peripheral vision." His eyes are a sea green. Beautiful. "Stop staring at me." Harry turns his attention back onto his cell phone. I blink a few times before turning around to finish what I had started. "Why do you where that stuff?" I'm interrupted once again.

"What do you mean?" I furrow my eyebrows together and look at him.

"It's like 90 degrees out there and you're wearing the longest dress I've ever seen on a collage student." he says.

"Are you insulting me?" I clench my fists at my sides, a habit I've had since I was little.

"In a way, yes."

"I haven't done anything to you so why insult me?"

"Because it's a free country and I can," Harry has his elbows on his knees and he's looking up at me now. "Plus, insults are bound to come flying at you."

"What is that supposed to mean?" I get more frustrated with this curly haired boy every second.

"I mean look at you, you don't fit in."

"I don't need to 'fit in'. I'm here to learn and that's it." I try to stay calm.

"Whatever," Harry gets up and leaves. Was he just here to torment me? I sigh and finish up with the last articles of clothing. I hear another knock at the door. Knowing it's Harry, I ignore it. I sit on the bed and try to ignore the repetitive noise. When I've had enough, I storm towards the door.

"What do you want?!" I yell, swinging the door open at the same time. I come face to face not with Harry, but with Conner. "I'm so sorry, I thought you were someone else." I apologize quickly.

"It's fine. You didn't know it was me," Conner gives me a half smile. "What happened while I was gone?"

"That rude one out of the bunch that was here." I sigh, sitting on the bed with Conner following.

"He was here? Why?"

"He claimed to be waiting for Alisa but started some stuff that I would rather not mention."

"That's okay." Conner rubs my back reassuringly. "I don't think you should be by these people."

"It's not like I came to him, Conner."

"I'm not saying you did. I think you should change dorm rooms."

"It's my first day, I'm not going to do that." I laugh a little.

"I called your mother."

"You what?!" I stand to my feet.

"I think your mother should deal with changing your dorm room."

"Why would you do that?! What did you tell her?"

"That your roommate is horrible and boys are hanging around in your dorm."

"You can't just say that about a girl you just met!" I defend Alisa, even though I only met her as well.

"You know her just as well as I do," Conner states. "I'm just trying to do the best for you."

"By bringing my mother into this? She'll go crazy!"

"Maybe I shouldn't of called her but-" Conner is interrupted by Alisa and Harry walking in.

"Great, it's Mr. Sweater Vest." Harry rolls his eyes and its lazily on Alisa's bed.

"Shut up, Harry," Alisa smacks him in the arm and Harry acts hurt but chuckles lightly.

"See what I mean?!" Conner motions towards Harry. Before Harry can insult him any further, a loud and frantic knock snaps all 4 of our attentions towards the door. Before Conner opens the door, I already know who it is.
