Falling Friendship

Alice Arbler and Santana Swent have been BFFs for nine years! When 6th grade comes they expect it to be the same: them being BFFs. But sudden changes in the summer tell them nothing is going to be the same. Alice and Santana must find pathways that don't connect. But each time they think they did, everything crashes and they have to start over again. Everyone they like seems to like everyone the other girl likes. Can they find a social life by the end of the school year? Or will they be doomed to spend the rest of the middle school life unsteady and on a rocky road?

1. Alice and Santana

I am Alice, not Allison, just Alice.  I'm named after my great aunt Alicia, so technically I'm Alicia, but I go by Alice. My best friend is Santana. I've been her friend since I was one. We're going to 5th grade this year, together.

I'm Santana. I'm probably named after the Glee character, Santana. 'Cause there's no other reason I'd be named Santana. I have a best friend, her name is Alice. We've been friends for ten years and will keep being friends F-O-R-E-V-E-R.

I met Santana on my first birthday.  She was my neighbor and her mom was my mom's BFF. So for my birthday party, Santana's mom helped out. My mom said that since Santana's mom was helping, Santana could come too. Of course, I had know idea who she was and why she was there. I tried to get rid of her. But then I decided she was good friend material and we became BFFs.

I met Alice at her first b-day party. My mom was helping out and we became friends at first sight! Very simple for me, a bit confusing for Alice.
