1. Introduction - Celebration

The citizens of Arendelle began to cheer and clap as I stepped outside of the castle doors. The warm air bristled through my loose hair as I began to make my way down the stairs. I smiled and looked around at the citizens as they continued the encore. As I reached the bottom steps the citizens began to quieten down and smile as the men bowed down and the ladies curtsied. You could see that the children were eager for the event as they kept their biggest grins on as I walked towards the fountain. The parents gave them stern looks which they hoped would make them bow but I knew that none of them would.

In the past few weeks after everyone had learned about my power, I had began to invite the children to come inside the castle to have sleepovers and have dinner. Anna had come up with the idea after she had found a few kids whispering in front of a bakery about how they thought the queen was pretty and very cool. Anna couldn’t help herself after she had heard so straight after she had heard “enough” she ran back to the castle, grabbed Olaf and snuck up behind them. When the children were just about to leave, Olaf and Anna jumped from behind a flower stand and frightened them. In a matter of minutes the girls and boys were chasing after Olaf and played all afternoon. Anna without even thinking kept on saying that they should hang out more often. The kid’s in Arendelle I found out were also very smart because before Anna even had taken it into account, she had invited them over for a sleepover. Thinking about Anna trying to explain why we were having unexpected visitors was something that made me laugh to this day. She would throw her hands around and speak a-hundred-miles-an-hour. I had to remind her to breathe or else I am pretty sure she would’ve fainted. She also added the fact that they said they thought I was pretty and cool. I kept my poker face on at that time but was inwardly cheering at the thought that citizens were paying compliments, even if the were from children. That night the children walked to the castle with their parents before thanking Anna and leaving gifts with her. Of course Anna refused them but the citizens of Arendelle considered giving gifts to the castle as a bestowment of fortune to their own family. There were eight of them when they all entered the doors. Five girls and three boys. All in which were so scared of me as I approached them and with my arms crossed. I asked them “Did any of you children say I was pretty?”. All the kids automatically pointed to a small blonde boy who looked at his friends and began to blush. Un-crossing my arms, I knelt down beside him and smiled, saying “Thank you”. All the kids began to smile and before long we were all running around the castle playing hide and seek.

The eight kids were right next to the fountain now. They began to frantically wave whilst rocking their bodied left to right in an exasperated manner. I walked up to them and gave them a stern look, which made them slow down a little. Holding all eight of their gazes, I then felt the sides of my mouth twitch. Before I could stop myself, I began to laugh and the children and parents followed after. I was trying to get used to joking around since I had spent most of my life hiding all emotion. My parents had made me memorise the quote “Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let it show”. My parents had wanted the best for me and in the end they had passed away in a storm. It was one of the scariest feelings I had ever experienced when I found out that they had died. I had cried continually not only for my parents but for my sister Anna. I couldn’t talk to her through that time and it was something that I would always feel guilty about. It was the time where I knew not only would she have felt isolated but so would I.

As I reached the fountain I looked down as everything had now fell silent. Looking at the fountain more closely, I now saw that the snow from the past event had now left the brickwork of the fountain with imprints of snowflakes and ice. The kids clicked their ice skates together whilst everyone began to fix their gazes on me. Standing in front of the fountain now, I began to clear my throat. “People of Arrendelle I welcome you all to another event held by the kingdom in which you have followed for generations unto generations and I thank you all once again for accepting me as both your queen and your friend” I said finishing off the introduction. The citizens cheered and clapped once again.

Closing my eyes, I began to imagine the ice crystals and snow flakes decorating my surroundings. Smiling to myself, I opened my eyes and placed my hand on the fountain. The cheering quietened down a fraction as the stone under my touch began to freeze up. The sound of cracking began to emit from the fountain as the water in the fountain froze up. Raising both hands in the air, blue particles of ice began to shoot towards the sky. Snow began to fall from the sky as the fountain had now frozen into a design of a twisting vine. The crowd began to cheer and I now once again heard the kids clicking their ice-skates on the ground. Turning my gaze to the eight little kids, I now saw their eyes glittering with amazement and happiness. The twinkle in children’s eyes I found out was contagious. I smiled and looked at them whilst lowering both hands. Grabbing my gown’s material I lifted the bottom of my dress ever so slightly revealing my foot. Lifting my foot up I felt the power well up inside of me before stomping down. I could feel the power flow out of me as the ground began to crystallize. A purple snowflake appeared beneath my body while the white ice began to race from the purple snowflake outwards. The floor in a matter of seconds was now a shimmering form of light blue ice and the walls had now turned into a fine sheet of snowflakes that were glowing due to the power flowing within them. Everyone was now laughing and skating in groups. The children were squealing with excitement as they skated themselves towards the fountain. A little boy with blonde hair began to topple over and I could see that he was going to fall. Without a moment’s hesitation, the heels that I sported in an instant became ice skates. Skating my way towards him, I crouched down and grabbed him by his hands whilst holding myself steady. The boy stopped as I looked up to see the boy’s eyes filling with tears. It was the same boy who had called me pretty. Without thinking I put my hands on his shoulders and looked at him reassuringly. “Have you ever been dancing on ice before?” I asked him whilst smiling. The boy’s face changed to a puzzled expression and shook his head. “Want me to teach you then?” I inquired. The boys face brightened and nodded enthusiastically. Reaching down, I grabbed both of his hands whilst whispering,

“Let’s go then”
