•Completed• Somebody That I Used To Know

"Yeah, we used to have some good times together." The words slipped through my mouth without me even thinking. I looked at Liam who's face had gone pale, and then Louis. His expression was blank. Then he stomped away, leaving us all in an awkward silence.

One slip up, that has been hidden for years, now causes Kayla to question who her "true love" really is. Or does she already have her love, and this is all just a bad dream?

1. The Big Break

"Lou, I don't see why you're so upset?" I said, with a hint of annoyance in my voice.

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't be." He flipped his hand up and slammed it on the table. "He is one of my best friends, you knew that." He stayed quiet, not making eye contact with me.

"It was a long time ago, and have I seemed the least bit interested in him?" Honestly, if I had known Liam was his friend I wouldn't have said yes. He stood up and started pacing. "Louis, look at me."

He stopped pacing and looked me straight in the eye. "I think you should go." He turned away as he talked and started to ruffle with his hair.

"He-" I could barely start my sentence.

"Please just go. I need some time to think." He ran his words together. I looked up, his face was flushed, and his eyes weren't their usual bright grayish-blue. Now they looked more like a dark sea color.

There was no doubt he was about to cry, I could tell. After I got a good look I took off. I didn't say anything to him, I didn't try to hug him, or even shake his hand. After I closed the door, I jumped as I heard something crash. I almost went back in, but my phone started ringing.

"How'd he take it?" Liam asked; although, he already knew the answer.

"Uhm, not so well."

"Thought so. Do you want to, like, talk about it?" I could feel Liam's smirk through the phone.

"That's a joke, right?" I let out a little laugh.

"Of course." He snorted and I smiled to myself. "Just call me if you need me, or any of us, you know. We're not far." I could feel my heart speed up as I thought about inviting Liam over, and it just made me feel worse.

"I will Liam. Goodnight."

"Night love, sweet dreams." Liam said, with a yawn. Then he hung up.

I yawned pretty much the entire way home. "Thanks a lot Liam." I said to myself.

I got into the house, made it to the sofa, then burst into tears.

There was Lou's scent still fresh from the night before, a photograph on the side table next to me, he left his jacket lying over the back of the chair.

I looked around at each thing, crying harder and harder as I did; then, my phone started to ring.

"Hello." I wiped my eyes with t free hand.

"You've been crying." Louis spoke, trying to hide his crackly voice.

"Of course. And you?" My eyes were tearing up again, just getting to hear his voice.

"Yeah, I cried. Don't make me cry again. I've got a huge mess to clean up, and I'd like to not have a headache while doing it."

"So does this mean, you aren't mad at me?" I said it slowly, and he answered me immediately.

"I didn't say that, but I never said I was mad in the first place." He was definitely up walking around because he dropped the phone.

"So you aren't?" I asked, grabbing a glass to get some water in.

"I'm not doing this. I'm not playing that game. I'm still very upset about everything, just I had to talk to you. I felt like I handled it..." He didn't want to admit he handled it wrong, although he did.

"You handled it wrong." I finished his sentence, or at least what I hoped he was going to say.

"Uhm, yeah. About that, I'm sorry. I'll admit, I shouldn't have yelled at you." It was silent for a while.

"It's fine Lou..." More silence, I thought soon he would decided to hang up.

"What's wrong?" He said soon after yawning too.

"You know I love you. You should've know there's nothing, or there would be nothing between us anymore. So, now the little secret is out and done with, let's move on."

"I agree."

My mind was on board one day, but the next, it was hard to forget being with Liam...
