Secrets to Tell

Everyone has a secret that they would never tell a soul. But would you even consider it a secret if you didn't know it yourself?

That's the real question.

Nuala could barely remember her name let alone anything about her past after a car accident she was involved in. As stated before, she doesn't remember anything, she doesn't remember where she came from, or how she came to be in the accident. She only assumed that she was perhaps just crossing the street and an unaware driver realized too late that she was in the way.

Now she's starting a new life.

Living with 7 other people under the same room isn't easy when she's put into a foster home and is enrolled into a nearby high school.

As she settles in, she befriends a strange group of guys and girls that seem to enjoy her presence, and they somehow understand her on a level that she never thought possible. But she doesn't get it.

What do they know about her that she doesn't?

5. 5. Rugby Star

Nuala looked up and smiled at her a beautiful woman standing in front of her. She was pale with gold locks that went all the way down past her waist. She had piercing blue eyes and a smile that could light up a room.

"Nuala dear, can you go grab me the green pepper from the fridge?"

Nuala grinned and nodded. "Yes mom."

She walked over to the fridge and grabbed the pepper from the bottom shelve and walked over to her mom to hand it to her. Her mom thanked her and began cutting it up.

There was a knock on the door and Nuala ran to get, not wanting to disturb her mom. She was making her favorite dinner for her fifteenth birthday and she was so excited. She was having 3 of her friends over and she was really looking forward to also seeing her dad.

When she opened the door she was met by her three best friends, Claudia, Danya, and Tyler. The way they smiled at her warmed heart and she was so glad that she had such great friends like them. Ones that had always stayed with her through thick and this and were by her side no matter what happened.

"Happy Birthday!" The yelled in unison.

She pulled all three of them into a huge hug. "Thanks guys!"

They followed her into the house and placed their gifts for her onto a nearby table.

"Mom, Ty, Claud, and Dan are here," Nuala called from the stairs. "We're just going to go hangout in my room, call us down when dinner's ready."

Her mom sent her back and okay and the continued up the stairs.

"So you think you found your mate?" Nuala looked at Claudia in awe as she took in this information.

Claudia shrugged. "To be honest I'm not sure. My mom says you have to be seventeen, sometime sixteen to know who your mate is, but I think so."

"But you're only fifteen." Tyler pointed out with a raised eyebrow.

"But whenever him and I touch I get this weird tingly feeling," Claudia blushed at the thought of her latest crush. Tim McWilliams. "Which is basically how my parents described it would feel when you found your mate."

The oblivious teens shrugged and nodded as they realized that she might've been right. They didn't know what it felt like to find that special someone.

Nuala sighed. "I hope I find my mate soon."

Nuala felt herself be shook. She groaned and rolled over in the bed, wanting to go back to dreaming, but whoever this person was, didn't feel like letting her.

"Nuala, you have to wake up," The voice said. "We have school."

Her eyes shot open at the mention of school and groaned again. She looked up to see Audrey looking down at her with an amused expression. This was her first day at school and she was not looking forward to it at all.

"Okay, let me just shower quickly."

After her shower, Nuala grabbed a pair of jeans and plain black shirt from her bag. When she finished getting dressed, she went downstairs to find Audrey putting on her shoes, she did the same.

"We've got to hurry if you don't want to be late on your first day." Audrey led Nuala through the kitchen and to a door that was next to the fridge and into what looked like a garage. It was filled with several cars that were lined in neat row and Nuala's eyes widened. The cars were so nice.

"Mr. and Mrs. Andrews own all of these?" Nuala said in awe.

Audrey nodded. "Yeah, they bought them for us and we just kind of share them."

They hopped into a bright red Audi r8 and Audrey pressed a button, making the garage door open. She pressed another button and the car roared to life making Nuala just look around the car in amazement.

This felt like a whole new experience to her, but for all she knew she had probably been in a car like this or something close.

They exited out of the garage and sped off towards school.

Audrey's eyes scanned the sheet in her hand before handing it over to Nuala. "Okay well you have first and fourth period with me, but your second and third you have with Keevan, Cammie, and Vince, so I'll get them to show you to your classes."

Nuala nodded and stuffed the schedule into her backpack before walking with Audrey to her first class. Science.

When they walked in, Nuala sucked in a sharp breath. Everyone was yelling and there were things being thrown across the room. It was she had entered a wild animal reserve or something.

She expected high school to be wild, just not this wild.

Her and Audrey took their seats at a table in the second row and pulled out their books. Ms. Andrews had apparently took it upon herself to get Nuala her textbooks, binders, and notebooks and Nuala reminded herself to thank her tonight for that.

"Class, settle down!" A middle aged man's voice roared. Nuala looked up and saw a man in a blue dress shirt and a black tie with short brown hair and square rimmed glasses. "We have a new student, today, so please make her feel welcomed. Nu- um Nua-"

"Nuala sir." She said cutting him off before he completely butchered her name.

He looked up from the sheet of paper he had been reading her name off of and made eye contact with her. "Ah yes, Nuala, please stand up and introduce yourself."

She did as she was told. "Hello, I'm Nuala Cambridge. I'm sixteen years old and I look forward to be learning alongside all of you." She sat down and opened her textbook and her notebooks to get ready for the lesson but noticed moments later that everyone was looking at her with weird expressions.

She looked around the room before looking at Audrey. "What are they looking at? Do I have something on my face?"

She was about to reach for to feel her face when Audrey stopped her. "No, no there's nothing on your face. It's just that most people don't say that during their intros."

Nuala's head tilted to the side. "Say what?"

"That they look forward to learning alongside everyone." Audrey said. "It sound so formal and weird."

A light blush covered her cheeks and she looked down nervously. "Oh, sorry."

Audrey chuckled at her. "Don't apologize, people here just aren't that used to people speaking politely like that."

Nuala nodded and turned back to the board and saw it was already filled with notes. She silently groaned but began copying them down anyways. It was her first day and she was already behind, she didn't want to risk it getting any worse.

She cursed under her breath as the bell rang. She was nearly done taking the notes but noticed everyone else clearing out. So deciding that she'd just borrow Audrey's later tonight, she started packing up her stuff to leave and started walking to her locker. When she reached it, Keevan was leaning in front of it with his head down looking at his phone.

"Hey." She greeted his when she reached him. His head shot up to look at her and he smiled at her.

"Hey, how was your first class?" He moved to the side so that she could put her stuff into her locker.

She shrugged. "It was okay I suppose, how about you?"

He shrugged as well. "Could've been better, we had a pop quiz and I was freaking out cause I didn't know any of the answers."

"Oh that's rough." She frowned, but then smiled at him reassuringly. "But don't worry, I'm sure you'll do fine next time."

He smiled at her. "Thanks, I hope so. So ready for English?"

Nuala cringed as she closed her locker and placed a lock on it. She hadn't been able to earlier for the fear of being late for science. "I guess so."

He walked her to their next class and Nuala felt a wash of relief as she noticed that this class was much calmer than her first class. There was quiet chatter and no one was out of their seats or throwing things and it made her feel much safer as she took a seat with Keevan in the third row. The teacher was already in the classroom preparing for a lesson as Nuala look out her notebook and pen.

Suddenly just as the bell rang, signaling that class has begun, a boy ran in at full speed.

"Made it!" He yelled.

The teacher glared at him for his loud entrance before pointing to an empty seat in front of Nuala. "Take your seat Mr. Grant."

The boy grinned and walked toward his seat. His pitch black hair stuck to his forehead slightly with sweat. His piercing blue eyes zeroed in on her and his grin widened.

"Hi I'm Beck, you're new right." He said when he sat down.

Nuala gulped and nodded. "Y-yeah, how'd you know?"

He chuckled. "I would've recognized you if you went here." His hand reached for a strand of her hair, letting it run and slip through his fingers. "You're kind of hard to miss."

Her heart thumped against her ribcage as their eyes locked. Blue with green caught in an intense stare down. He then smiled at her. "So what's your name snowflake?"

She raised an eyebrow at him. "Snowflake?"

"Yeah," he chuckled. "Your hair is so blond it's nearly white."

She laughed and nodded. "Oh well it's Nuala."

"Gorgeous name for a gorgeous girl."

Nuala blushed at his compliment and mumbled a thank you. From the corner of her eyes she could see girls sending her dirty looks and her head shot up in confusion before her head bowed down again to hide her face.

He looked at her funny. "What?"

She peeked up at him. "The girls in the class are looking at me weird."

He chuckled. "Don't mind them, they do that whenever I talk to any girl."

Her head tilted to the side and she bit her lip and went to ask what he meant but the teachers voice cut her off. "Mrs. Cambridge and Mr. Grant, unless you'd both like detention, I'd advise you both looked forward to the board and started copying down this note."

Beck just smirked at the teacher while Nuala bowed her head down and muttered an apology.

Soon class was over and Nuala and Keevan were walking out of the classroom. They were going to first stop at each of their lockers to grab their books, then head over to Cammie's locker and meet Vince in class.

"Who's Beck?" Nuala asked Keevan as they walked to Cammie's locker.

"Beck Grant is our very own rugby star." Keevan explained. "He's like the fastest, toughest guy on the team. He's the reason why we've like never lost a game."

"He's that good?" Her voice held astonishment at Keevans described Beck.

Keevan nodded and stopped to lean against a locker next to Cammie's. "Yeah, tell her Cammie."

Cammie took her head out from her locker and looked at Keevan with a confused look. "Tell her what."

Nuala turned at looked at Cammie. This was the first time she had met her. She hadn't gotten the chance to say hi while they were in the basement last time so this was the first time she had seen Cammie face to face.

She had long black hair that reached the small of her back and she had big brown eyes that slanted slightly, showing that she had some sort of Asian blood in her. Overall she was stunning.

"About how great of a rugby player Beck is."

Cammie looked over at Nuala with wide eyes. "He's amazing. Like I've never seen anyone tackle like him, and he's like the fastest kid I've ever seen it's insane." Her tone then changed and she wiggled her eyebrows at Nuala, a smirk spreading on her face. "Why do you ask, got an eye for him or something?"

"W-what no n- it's not like that." Nuala sputtered, her cheeks flaming, clearly making them think otherwise. "He was talking to me in history today and a bunch of girls were giving me weird looks so I wondered why. I guess it makes sense now I guess."

Cammie nodded while closing her locker. "Yeah, he has a plethora of fan girls that could rip your throat out without any sign of remorse if they catch you flirting with him."

Nuala shivered in fear. Fan girls sure go hardcore don't they. She pushed away her fear and suddenly her thought wandered to the blue eyed rugby player. To her, he had the charm of a football player. Like the ones you'd read about in books or see in movies.

She understood why the girls at the school wanted him though. Aside from the charm, he was very handsome. Dark hair, bright blue eyes, perfect full lips and a body that could make a girl weak in the knees, he was quite the looker. But there was something else about him; something she couldn't pinpoint about him that made him special.

She shrugged it off and walked into the classroom. Maybe she'd never find out what it was about him. Or maybe she would.

Who knew?
