Ace of Blood

Alice has found a new kind of wonderland.
Jamie Cunning is just an ordinary girl. Sort of. Bearing the scars of a thousand painful memories, old an new, she found a strange set of friends in the abandoned and untended headstones of a nearby cemetery. But this girl who prefers the company of the dead to that of the living finds a shocking new life thrust upon her when she is shoved into a world of danger and death. The worst of all: it lurks just around the corner. The paperboy. The school bully. The neighbor. They may all be a part of it. Watch out, because Ace is always watching, and you never know how the cards will fall.

16. Tick. Tock.

-Ace, the binding that holds us together.
-Deuce, the only one he can trust.
 -Drei, the stranger.
-Vier, the lover of fire and death.
 -Vijf, the whisperer.
-Zes, the killer in the shadows.
 -Saith, the artist.
-Wyth, the voice that speaks for us.
 -Neuf, the watcher.
 -Dix, the thief.
-Akera, the messenger, connecting us all.
 -Bara, the caretaker.
-Tera, the one who can see us as we are.
But can you see me, Tera? Can you really see any of us?
Prove yourself. Come find me, before I find you.
You’ll know when I’m getting close, you’ll feel it.
I am the White Rabbit, my dear Alice.
Step carefully, lest the Queen catch you before I can.
I’ll tear your life apart, but she’ll cut off your head.
If you find me I’ll keep you safe.

You better hurry, because you’re very late.
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Here I come.

“Now I just have to wait for the perfect moment,” the Rabbit whispered to itself, setting down the pen. An opportunity would present itself soon, he was sure. He’d already laid all the plans for it, prepared his stage perfectly. Alice would never see it coming, of that he was sure.
The little piece of white stationary folded up nicely, fitting perfectly into the lining of the Rabbit’s glasses case. He’d just hold on to it until his play reached the climax, and then he’d let hell break loose.
The Rabbit only hoped that Alice would evade the Queen long enough to receive it.
