What I Didn't Know

Morgan has an unexpected encounter with a boy she never expected to have anything to do with.

1. Chapter 1

"Carlie, I'm really scared for this interview." I said to my best friend who was waiting patiently on my bed as I dug through my closet for something to wear.

"You're going to do fine Aubrey, everyone loves you." She tried desperately to make me feel better.

It always seemed like I had nothing nice to wear when I needed it most. I searched through the sweaters I had, deciding on the casual look. The September air made the sweater a wiser choice.

"Aubrey you only have half an hour until your interview. You better hurry, traffic's going to be bad in the city." Carlie reminded.

"I know, I know. I'm hurrying."

I walked into my bathroom and rolled a few curls into my dirty-blonde hair. I hated make-up, and for this occasion I was still not willing to put it on except for my usual mascara. I had my cream sweater on with regular jeans.

The job was for an internship at a huge agency just inside the city. I had looked forward to this opportunity ever since I got out of high school. It was my dream job, working for a big company, doing what I love. Writing. That's why I was hoping for the best.

After I said my goodbyes, Carlie wished me luck and I was headed for the agency.

I drove a bright, sky blue Mini Cooper that my dad had given me for my graduation present. My parents had no idea that I was going to the interview. I thought it could be a little surprise.

My hands were shaking as I pulled into the big parking lot that held one of the largest buildings I had ever seen. The words written on the top read WELLS INC. I glanced in the mirror and began to fix the stray hairs adorning my head.

I checked my phone. I was just in time for my interview with Trey, the office manager. I hurried inside the building, the air nipping at my face which was still revealed to the cold.

As I pulled the door open the lobby came into sight. It was huge, not many people crowding. I walked over the the receptionist desk and looked over the counter at the small brunette that was making herself look busy on the computer. Her hazel eyes looked up at me when she heard the small clearing of my throat.

"Can I help you?" She smiled up at me.

"Um, yes, I'm here for an interview with Trey?" My words came out as more of a question than a statement.

"Interview with Trey." She repeated my words as she looked through a binder of names and numbers. "Ah yes, Aubrey is it?"

"That's me." I was relieved. I exhaled the breath that I had been unconsciously holding in.

"You can go on up to the sixth floor. He's room 209." She smiled at me.

"Okay, thank you." I returned her favor and walked over to the elevator. I pressed the silver oval button and waited for the doors to open.

I looked around, observing my surroundings. I paid close attention to the way the workers dressed, just to get an idea if I get the internship.

The ding of the elevator snapped me from my glaze and I walked into the opened doors. I released a small sigh as I pressed the button with a 6 on it. The button lit up before the elevator started moving.

My nerves were a mess, my small hands shaking even more now. I wanted this position so bad. The doors to the elevator flung open, making me jump.

I stepped out and slowly started to make my way down the hall. It was quiet. I was the only one in the big hallway, which smelt of coffee and paper. I walked to the last door, room 209, and knocked quietly.

"Just a minute!" A voice called.

I took a step back from the door as I waited.

"Hi." A tall, rather handsome man opened the door with a big smile on his face. "Are you Aubrey?"

"Yeah." I smiled.

"Liam, just wait outside I have things to do. I'll deal with you when I'm done." Trey said. His head was turned, talking to someone inside his office.

I stepped aside as the tall boy walked towards the doorway.

"Little brothers." Trey smiled at me, shaking his head.

I gave him a smile, but I was more focused on the boy walking towards us. His hair perfectly done, but everything else looking very messy. He was dressed in jeans and a normal white v neck shirt, a leather jacket thrown over his shoulder.

I looked up at his face, it was perfect. He was gorgeous. The little birthmark on his neck made me smile. I hadn't realized my facial expressions until I looked up as his. He gave me a smirk and then a small wink as he looked my body up and down.

"Good luck." His hand tapped my behind as he walked past me. My hand quickly went down to the spot he had touched, feeling very uncomfortable.

"You ready?" Trey looked at me.

"Ah, yeah." I stuttered.

I followed Trey inside his office and felt relief when I heard the door close behind us.
