"Well, dear... It's rather complicated." My mother said, leading me to a seat.

A seat next to the God of Freaking Thunder no less!

I wanted to scream and curl up into a tiny little ball and just FanGirl out forever. But, no. I can't. It's more important to stay focused on what Mom and Dad had to say.

So, I did the impossible. I simply ignored Thor the Thunderer.

"Make it simple, then." Was my snippy reply.

"Well, we...have been...notified....errrr...of your...uhhhh...powers..." She said awkwardly.

Oh, that's all?

"Oh. Okay... And..?"

"That's it?! Nothing else?! No 'how did you find out?!' Or meltdowns?!"

"You both work for S.H.I.E.L.D. I assumed that Dad knew already... Because you know, he's THE PHIL COULSON and everything. And, no offense, Dad, but I already knew who you were. You're in the news A LOT!"

"Ohhh... Right..." Dad said, flabbergasted.

"Also! How come I'm stuck here in freaking freezing Alpena while the two of you are always in stinking New York or L. A.?!"

"Your safety as a child of two agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was and still is monumental." Dad replied in his "I'm a Secret Agent and thus, more important" voice.

I almost laughed. Almost. "Okay... I guess that's understandable... But what's any of that got to do with me now?"

This time, it was neither of my parents that spoke up. No, indeed not.

It was Tony Stark. "Abbie, right?"

I looked over at him, his voice was like magic. Beautiful. Wondrous. Hypnotizing. I nodded slowly.

"Well, we have reason to believe that...." He trailed off, looking at me with wide eyes.

I had only just taken off my hoodie. And apparently what was under it as my shirt was distracting. I looked down. It was my skin tight, (I'm skinny, but I've got curves), sleeveless, low cut Iron Man shirt. But, the helmet wasn't on. It was being held in his hand and you could see Tony's face. Right between my rather endowed chest. I rolled my eyes at his obvious this-is-weird-man problem.

"Umm.... Abs?" Mom said, glaring at my choice of clothing.

I turned to look at her, eyebrows raised in a silent question.

"What. Are. You. Wear. Ing?!"

"My I'm-Too-Sexy-For-My-Shirt Shirt." I said with a wink at Tony.

Tony laughed whole heartedly at my play on words.

Dad was ready to die. Or kill someone. His face was red in either anger or embarrassment. And he did not, as I take it, find my answer humorous. But he was so indignant that he couldn't speak. I guess it was for the greater good...because as soon as he was able to speak...I wasn't liking it all too much...

"ABIGAIL NATASHA COULSON! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING WEARING THAT SHIRT?! AND TO SCHOOL NO LESS?!?!" He screeched out, reminding me of a chihuahua for some strange reason.

"Well, you never had a problem with it in the past..." I said.

"I WASN'T HERE IN THE PAST!! Ohhhh....."

"Nice save, Dad." I snapped at him.

"Why do you disrespect your mother and father so, daughter of Son of Coul?" Thor asked right next to me.

I turned to him at last and said, "Imagine what it feels like to raise yourself from the age of six. Now, throw in the problems of puberty; such as your very first period or these strange things called breasts that suddenly pop up on your chest out of nowhere and you have to deal with all of this at the age of NINE all by YOURSELF because your mommy and daddy are too busy with what was called "work problems, I'm sorry, Abs". Now, also remember that you had one best friend. One friend that ever knew you, understood you, made you feel like life would be okay even when nobody else treated you right. Then remember the day that decided to not be your friend anymore. The day that he upped and left. The day that you were deserted. And then you have to go grocery shopping for yourself by yourself and find a way to and from the store without having to break the law. And then remember all the field trips that you couldn't go on because mommy and daddy were never at home. Imagine all of that, and then tell me that you yourself wouldn't have some issues with your parents suddenly popping out of nowhere to tell you what you can cannot wear on your body. Even when you are well past the age of a legal adult, and thus, can do as you please. Heck, I've even got tattoos on my body! What are they going to say then? That I have to burn my skin off and never get another tattoo?"

Thor was quiet, the information I had just hurriedly dropped on his Asguardian head was seeping in still.

"I'm sorry. But just because you have Daddy AND Mommy problems does NOT change why we are here, Abigail." Bruce Banner spoke up for the first time.

"First off, I'm a big fan of your work. I'm actually going into med at Harvard. Second off, I'm a huge fan of how you can change into a giant, growing, green monster of rage. And finally, what exactly ARE you all here for?"

"Well," Tony began again, "you seem to be in danger. And Clint here seems to have fallen head over heals in love with you. We don't know how...but he has."

I turned to give the one that Tony motioned to a good look, unfortunately, his mask covered his entire face, so it was impossible to see who it was.

"Did you say Clint?"

"Yes, yes he did." Hawkeye spoke up.

"Barton?" I whispered to him, thinking of my old best friend, not meaning to talk to him.

He pulled off his mask and looked at me with those brilliantly blue-grey eyes.

It was him. The boy that had been my best friend for years. Someone that had suddenly stopped all communication with me the summer before my eighth grade year. He disappeared from my life. And now, now he's back.
