12. Chapter 12

I think about how many days it has been. This is only day two. I believe I have broke some sort of record. Fourteen people in two days at age fourteen? Come on, that has to be something. Maybe I'll knock the competition out today. That sounds good. If I kill the remaining four, that means eighteen in two days. Now that is a record.

"Hello tributes! Congrats on making it to the final five! You all need something. Since we,being the nice people we are, have decided to provide it. Tonight, there will be a Feast! It is located at the Cornucopia. Hope to see you there! May the odds be ever in your favor!" Claudius Templesmith's voice boomed out over the arena.

What do I desperately need? A new finger? I have everything. If I don't have anything, sponsors are lining up to give it to me. This is just a way to knock out the competition. I run. I retrace my footsteps.

Luckily, I am in good shape. The Cornucopia is quite a ways away. When I reach it,I am completely out of breathe. I look around.Nothing. I do not see anyone. I just stay hidden. The table with five bags pops out of the ground.

I see mine. It is big. What could it possible be? I need nothing. Well, other than a new finger. That reminds me. I look down. The rest of my finger is purple. That is not good. It will surely need to be amputated, unless the Capitol has some amazing medicine to cure it. Luckily, I am still able to grip my sword. I am unable to bend it,but it doesn't effect me at all.

As I regain my focus, a girl runs out. She is from District Eleven. I stand up. She grabs her bag and I run out after her. I grab a spear and throw it. She tumbles to the ground when the spear impales her back. The cannon fires.

The boy and girl from five run out to grab their bags. They are weaponless. The boy grabs the spear from Eleven's body. The girl grabs the bags and opens them while the boy runs at me. Great, the girl pulls out two swords.

I throw a knife at the boy. He dodges it. He tries to poke me with the spear. I avoid it and grab the spear. I have the spear in my left hand. I am not left handed. The knife is in my right hand. I throw the knife and of course it kills him. Not like I'd miss. I never miss. The cannon goes off.

The girl looks at her friends dead body. I laugh as she is still stunned. She looks and me and down at his body multiply times."Why are you in such shock? You thought I wouldn't kill him?" I laugh.

"Please,I don't want trouble. This isn't fair. You've trained all your life. Your parents probably spoiled you and gave you whatever weapon you'd like. Of course you'll kill me.I don't stand a chance."

"If you put the swords down, it might not be as painful." I laugh. She looks at me. She puts the swords down and takes off. I sprint after her. I am exhausted. I had just ran miles. I wasn't in the mood to run,but I'd do whatever it took to win. I tackle her.

I slit her throat with my machete. I had meant to pull the kukri out. Guess I reached into the wrong pocket.

"Guess it would be equally as painful." I laugh. I get up. I look around for Veronica. She has to be around her. The cannon fires.

I turn around and she is running full speed at me. She has her ax in one hand. I throw a knife. She dodges it. This is the only fight that will be hard. I should of killed you.

She stops in front of me."I knew I should of killed you when I could! You thought leaving me with no food was so smart, huh?"

"You thought it was too? Good." I laugh and pull out my bloody kukri.

"Who's blood is that?"

"What does it matter? It will be yours soon."I swing for her head. When I miss, I kick her in the stomach. It causes her to stumble.

She looks down at the ground. When she looks up, I stab her in the eye. I twist my kukri up as I pull it out.

"You bastard!" She screams and runs at me.

"I'm over here!" I shout at her. She can't see very well. Yet she still manages to tackle me. I knock he ax out of her hand and she knocks my kukri free.We struggle to get grip of each other throats.

I finally pin her down. I grab a knife from my jacket."I told you I was better." I laugh as I slit her throat. As she gasps for air, blood flows out of her neck.

I take the bloody knife and put it into her chest. I leave it there as the cannon fires.

"That was easy." I laugh.

"Everyone, I present to you Caden Hawks. The victor of the Ninetieth Hunger Games!" Claudius Templesmith's voice roared as the trumpets played. A hovercraft took the bodies away and then another appeared. A ladder dropped down and I climbed up.

Man, did it feel good to win. My parents never really got to experience this because the Capitol hated them. I can only imagine how they are reacting right now. I knew they had faith in me,but still.
