A Series of Untitled Poems.

5. 5.

Two years of soaking in your scent
As I wrap your jumper around me,
Wishing it was your arms around my body.
Two years of basking in the same thing;
Day after day of hoodies and late night
Drunken texts about how much I love you.
Two years bought to an end,
Cut short.
And now, I smell you everywhere,
The boy beside me in class bathed
In the same deodorant you wore.
But I can’t wrap myself with him,
I’m left to smell like myself again;
Like salted popcorn and bitter black coffee
Staining the paper I write these thoughts on,
As I wonder if your scent, beneath all these others,
Still lingers on my skin.
