The family is a worker-family and the story takes place in the 60's-70's.
Harry's life is without meaning and he has a hard time finding a job to support the family. That is until he meet the daughter of the richest man in town.
Two different social classes and families, which loathes one another, have their roads crossed and every prejudice get challenged and love must take the ultimate test.

9. Seventh meet

15'o'clock next day you could hear a knock on the door.
Harry walked down the stairs with Leah right behind. His mother had already opened.
"What do you want here? You have nothing to come here for."
Harry's mother stood with her arms crossed and a sour face. Outside the door Melanie stood with a frightened face in a fur coat and matching fur hat. Then his mother slammed the our shut.
"Mom what are you doing?!"
"How dare she come here? To know she is better than us? No one asked her here." Tears were showing in his mother's eyes.
"You asked her here mom."
She looked at him.
"How dare you?!" His mother yelled at him.
"How dare you bring the daughter to the cause of your father's dead to your family's home?!"
"Mom! She hasn't done anything." Harry knew it was right and he was so ashamed he had said the same to Melanie as his mother did right now.
"It is in their genes I promise you." She was furious.
"You promised to thank her mom. You promised!"
"That snob… That, that bitch is not going to walk on my floors." Harry had rarely seen his mother so angry and he had never heard her use such language. He was shocked.
"Behave yourself! Leah loves her remember? She stands right there." He pointed at Leah who looked miserable, frightened by her sweet mother and on the urge to cry.
"Oh honey. Come here." His mother changed mood at once at the sight of Leah and she hugged her tight.

"Leah doesn't think Melanie is a... a…" He hesistitated. Unable to repeat the word his mother had used about Melanie.
"Don't you trust your own children mom?"
The room was quiet for a while."
"Melanie. It is Melanie standing outside that door. The girl who helped carry Leah's clothes. She said our house was lovely mom. She hasn't done anything. She helped and asked nothing in return."
He looked at his mother. Controlled himself while she controlled herself.
"I trust you. I… You are smart kids and you have your father's heart Harry. I trust you. I am sorry." She said it to Leah's hair, before she rose her head to look in Harry's eyes. It had with no doubt taken a lot of courage of her.
The fight had escalated so quickly and they forgave each other just as fast.

Harry took a breath and opened the door. No Melanie. He ran out on the street and saw her walking fast towards the town.
"Melanie!" She did not stop.
"Melanie! Wait!" He ran after her, grabbed her shoulder. When she turned the fur hat fell to the ground. Her face was glistening with tears.
"No! Let me go!"
"Melanie she... she did not mean any..."
"Let. Me. Go!" She screamed at his face and began to walk away.
"Keep it down for god's sake. I am trying to make it a quiet sunday up here. You are not helping." A man had shown in a window in one of the houses. Harry did not care.
"Melanie. She does not know you. She does not understand."
"No none of you do. You have just as many prejudices as we have. You are just as bad as we are." She turned to walk away, but then turned again.
"No you know what? You are worse. At least we are not that bitter to tell the children that someone who have success and make more money than we do are bad people."
Her eyes flashed with rage as she kept looking him in the eye.
"No you don't." Harry said to her quietly still holding each others eye. Trying for the second time today to control himself.
"We didn't know any better. Leah did. I do now and my mom will too. Prove we weren't right. Come eat pancakes with us. I will protect you from my evil mother." He tried a little smile.
