When roads cross

Harry's dad is dead and now he lives with his three younger siblings and his mother in a little house in the suburbs of England.
The family is a worker-family and the story takes place in the 60's-70's.
Harry's life is without meaning and he has a hard time finding a job to support the family. That is until he meet the daughter of the richest man in town.
Two different social classes and families, which loathes one another, have their roads crossed and every prejudice get challenged and love must take the ultimate test.

5. Fourth meet

She winked at him. She really winked at him. He couldn't remember anyone who had ever winked at him.
He couldn't help but smile. She had been funny despite his quite evil comments. Was this girl, even though she was rich, actually OK?
He shaked his head. What a nutty thought. Of course she weren't.
He started walking back towards home, but in the sand he saw something shiny. He bended and picked it up. It was a ring.
The ring was simple with a little purple flower and inside it there was
a text engraved.
'To the one who follow.'
It could only be Melanie's.
He had to give it back, but he sure wasn't going in there. He decided to wait. So he sat down in the sand. Cold from the wind.
She had blonde hair. He noticed it when she came out on the beach. It was tied up tight to her head.
An hour later he saw the girl come running out. She started searching the sand without noticing Harry.
After a little while Harry said: "Looking for something Rich Girl?"
"Why are you still here?"
"I think I found something which belong to you."
He showed her the ring and you could see her breathe a kept breath out.
"And now you are going to keep it?"
"No i ain't. I am poor, but not a thief. But I wonder why you look so upset. Why not just buy a new one, this look quite old."
"It has been my grandmother's. Now give it to me."
"Oh so you inherited it. Nice. That explains the text. Here it is yours."
She walked towards him and reached for the ring. When she did, Harry caught her arm and she landed beside him.
"What did you do that for you dumbass?"
"You sure know a lot of bad words Rich Girl."
He jumped on his feet and stretched his arm against her.
"I did it, so I could pretend to be a real gentleman and help a lady in need."
She looked angrily at him, but then took his hand. Harry swung her up but she stumbled.
Harry's reflexes acted fast and he caught her. She landed in his arms, up close to his face.
You don't have to fall for me. You can just love me if that's what you want." Then he smiled quirky and winked at her.
"Maybe it is just what I want." She got up and left. She did not look back at Harry when she entered the door for the second time that night.
