I wrote this poem when I was in the fifth grade for a poetry contest. I didn't win, but I think its pretty good.

1. Together

Together we can

With all of our hands

Work together

To make a big plan

To stop war of course Is what I desire

My thoughts are as strong

As a ship made of iron

So what am I supposed to do?

Just sit here and think

While innocent lives

Are shed like spilled ink

So you see It's simple and plain

We are all affected

Like a cold winter rain

A smile, a nod, a wave

A simple act of thanks

Means more to our soldiers

Than money in a bank

Whether near or far

Our Soldiers pay the price

We can never truly repay them For all they sacrifice

Together we can Hand in hand

Show thanks to our soldiers

Every child, woman, and man
