Caring (A Harry Styles Fanfiction)

Emily Blackwood is your almost average 20 year old nurse. She graduated university early due to her change of country, from Australia to London. With only Leah, Jess and Hannah as her friends, she struggles to find the romance she has dreamed of since a child. But that soon changes, all because of Leah. Emily isn't sure whether to thank her friend, or whether to hate her.
My fingers gently run over the dark mark situated in the crook of my neck. I wince at the slight pain. As I open my eyes that I didn't know I closed, I look to Leah.
My eyebrows furrow as I realise she isn't looking at me, but rather someone behind me. My head turns immediately to the source holding her attention.
He stands there, only metres from the door, staring at me. He smirks at me before dropping his left eye in a wink and vanishing out the door.
Fear racks through my body as I remember his words.
"You're now mine, Emily."
I turn back to Leah, our expressions the same.
Complete shock and fear.

Chapter 27

Emily's POV

I listen as Harry stomps down the hallway and chills smother me. But he's not drunk...

I sit cross-legged in front of an open box, pulling out some of the few belongings I have. I have officially moved out, payed the rent I've missed and begged my boss back for my job. The landlord forgave me, but my boss?

Needless to say he found out about my injury. The gunshot, who took me to the hospital, who stayed with me. Because of my 'relations' with Harry I am no longer a suitable employee, even with my extensive knowledge in most areas of the hospital. He thinks I can't work with kids anymore and has put notices to every hospital and aged care facility that they shouldn't hire me.

If Harry knew why I couldn't have my job, I... I don't know what he'd do.

I've lied so much to Harry. First there's my moment with Greg and why I reacted in such a way. Then there is why I couldn't have my job back. And finally, what happened two nights ago.

"Here's the last box." Harry's voices makes me jump. I look up and give him a thankful smile.

I look around the room. "There wasn't even five boxes, Harry."

"You still have a lot of shit, Emily." He mocks me. I give him a playful glare before turning my attention back to the open box. I pull out a folder, which I already know is filled with certificates from nursing. A sigh falls from my mouth as I place it down at my side. "Liam and Leah will be over here later." I hear Harry say.

"Who's Liam and Leah?" I ask mindlessly pulling out a photo collection.

"Uh, Leah your best friend?"

My head shoots up. "Fucking what?" Harry laughs. And then something clicks. "Wait, hold up. Who the fuck is Liam? And why are they coming here?"

Harry's laugh is now only a small smile. "You remember the day I broke down Leah's door because I thought someone was kidnapping you both? Well, the other guy that was with me is Liam. According to him, they exchanged numbers and started talking."

"Bull-fucking-shit." I call. "She kissed him."

"Well, yeah." Harry nods.

A sound echoes through the house, seeming like a car door has been slammed. I jump from my position on the floor, race to the beside table and pick-up my beloved item. I run from the room and down the hallway pushing Harry into the wall and stopping in front of the door. Harry's curse was loud enough to make Liam open the door, in what looked to be a panic.

"So Liam, I don't think we've met in a normal way. I'm Emily."

He frowns at the item in my hand and then looks up at me. "Hey..." He says cautiously.

"Leah, do you like him?"

Leah looks at me shocked. "Well, hello to you too."

"Do you like him?" My hands moving slightly, the item dangling loosely in my hand.

A blush forms on her face and that's all I need.

"Alright Liam. I asked a question from Leah, now I'm going to ask one from you. Do you want kids?"

His eyes widen. "What?"

I shake my head. "Just answer the question."

"Well, yeah. Not now though."

I nod my head approving. "Good, but if you ever hurt my best friend in any way whatsoever..." I raise my hand holding the item (or gun, whatever you want to call it) and point it at him. "I'll make sure you will never have a kid. You got me?"

He nods, shocked.

"Okay, good." I drop my gun on the floor and race over to Leah, picking her up and spinning around. "I've missed you!" I squeal.

"I've missed you too!" She squeals after I put her down. We immediately start our conversation that will surely last over an hour.

"We will have to have a big girl day with Eleanor one day." I say walking to the front door with Leah.

"Yes, we will. Once we are all initiated, as they like to call it." She says referring to Harry and Liam.

I laugh. "It's such a stupid word. Like really?" We then laugh together.

"Come on Leah, we need to head off." Liam calls as he stands by the door with Harry.

I wrap my arms around Leah, glaring at Liam over her shoulder. "She's mine. She will never leave me." I say jokingly. I pull away from Leah. "Message me soon, yeah?"

"Yeah." She says waving goodbye. I do the same, taking my position next to Harry, watching them pull away from the curb.

"Did you have to threaten him?" Harry laughs after he shuts the door.

I nod walking back to the bedroom to finish unpacking. "Yes. I hope he knows I'm not joking."

"I'm pretty sure he knows." He replies.

"He better. Because this is the first time she's settled down since Nate." I blurt.

I turn around to Harry to say forget about it, but he beats me to it. "Who's Nate?"

"Her ex." I say bluntly. "He broke her heart, to say the least." I turn back around and into the room, retaking my position in front of the half empty box.

Harry sits down beside me taking my photo album. "What's this?" He asks as he opens it. Then he laughs.

I immediately try to snatch it off of him. "Yeah, no way princess. I'm not giving this back for a while." He pulls it over his head and I see the reference of 'princess'. My 7th birthday party.

"I strongly dislike you." I inform him with a glare and a huff.

I turn back to the box pulling out the next thing. "Yeah, I love you too."

My entire body stops. I know he didn't mean it, the joking in his voice gave that away. But it still made my heart flutter with excitement and anticipation.

Excitement - because a guy that I sort of like said those words to me.

Anticipation - because I can't wait until he says it again and actually means it.
