A Real World Hunger Games

This is like a real world hunger games, but is a little different. There are no more continents except for North America. A meteorite has destroyed the other 6 continents. North America's people can not thrive or live without the help of food being imported from the other continents, so, North America is broken up into 12 districts. Each district must find a way to make a certain amount of food for the other districts, and each district is assigned their amount. When the people of the capital realize that each district can't support the rest of North America's people, they select 24 people from each district, and each district has it's own game each year. Only two people will survive from the group that has been drawn. This helps keep the population steady. Only 2,ooo people are allowed per district. The games help decrease the number of people. Oh Ya, there is also only a quarter of the world left, just enough land for North America to stay on. They call these games, the Hunger Games.

After I am done rubbing his back and arms with the lotion, I lie him down on the cold ground of the cave and let it soak in. He winced a little during the time I was spreading the lotion but was to weak to refuse it, so I managed to put it all on easily. I began to rub it all over my body. My body was probably the worst out of both of ours because I had not taken care of it quick enough. Now there are bubbles all over my arms, some on my back, and a little on the side of my face. They were just like the bubbles that had formed when I had jumped into the creek. Only this time, they were worse. I began to think that all the water here was acid except the water bottles. This must have been the new thing they added to the arena this year.

Once I was done rubbing the lotion on me, I set it aside so we had enough for tomorrow morning. I took out a water bottle and drank half of it before I lied down next to Garrett.

He looked so peaceful...but at the same time you could tell he was still in pain. I was too. With the leftover tingling from the bubbles healing, I couldn't sleep either. I wanted to check Garrett's foot to make sure it was okay, but decided against it incase it caused him pain.

That lead me back thinking about why that girl just ran past us. I did think it was because she didn't have a weapon to defend herself with, but she ran so close to me I could've just reached out and stabbed her right then and there. She must have known that, or maybe people find me too weak to actually kill. No. There is something else going on. Something I don't know about. When she ran past me she did look at me in a funny way. Is there something I don't know that everyone else does? I wanted to wake up Garrett and ask him this but again, he looked too peaceful to wake up. I decided to just drop the topic, and try to fall asleep.
