Mr. Perfect

My name is Samantha. My mum is always meeting guys and thinking that they're 'the one' and is never around, so we're always moving to different places and I'm always having to make new friends. When I reach the last year of high school and (hopefully) the last school, I meet a boy who changes my life forever. Niall.

4. Wagstaff Elementary

Shay and I went on the elevator together in silence.

"Won't that set off a fire alarm?" I asked Shay, looking at her cigarette.

"Nah, they got rid of 'em when they kept going off, because of me, of course." she chuckled to herself.

I looked at her arms to see multiple bruises and I suddenly felt sorry for her. I was guessing she had troubles at home. When she realised I was looking at them, she covered them up with her sweater and tried to change the subject.

"So, are you new to this building?"

"Yeah, just moved in yesterday."

Shay threw her bud on the floor and stood on it.

"Where from?" she asked.

She looked at me in disgust. I was aware New York didn't Jersey, so I laughed.

"Well, you're lucky you've moved to the greatest city on Earth, I'll show you around sometime."

The elevator doors opened and I noticed 'Wagstaff Elementary' written on her bag.

"I'll see you later." she said stepping out of the elevator doors.

"I'll see you at school actually" she gave me a confused look, so I pointed to the school name on my bag.

"Why don't we walk together?" she asked.

"Well, I'm actually waiting for my mum, but I'll see you at recess."

Shay laughed and walked in the direction of my new school.

I heard the ding of the elevator and saw mum and Mike standing in the doorway.

"Let's go." It was that moment I heard my mum say that, I got nervous. At least I had Shay.

We drove towards the tall building which resembled Hogwarts.

"Well that's creepy" said mum. That made me feel a lot better.

I jumped out of the car and picked my bag up from the car floor.

"Bye mumma bear!" I yelled to mum as she drove off. A couple of pretty girls, the popular ones I'm guessing, started giggling. I'm guessing it was because I called my mum mumma bear, so I just ignored it.

"Hey Samantha, there you are!" I turned around to see Shay standing next to a gate, with another cigarette.

"Hey Shay" I yelled, running towards her.

"Can I have one of those?" I asked, looking towards her packet of cigarettes.

"Really?" she looked quite confused, but handed me one anyway. I was really stressed and needed one.

"Thanks." I looked at it for a while. I'd never actually smoked a full one before.

"Look, you don't have to" Shay said, I guess she felt kinda bad. I gave it back to her just as the bell, signalling the start of school, went off.
