Just Friends...not.

Michelle is your average high school teenage girl. Or, at least as average as it gets. She's popular, all the teachers loves her, and she has the best boyfriend ever. Saxon Lyman. But what happens when her childhood friend, Derek Graham, starts increasing their friendship to the next level. Is he just trying to mess with her emotions? Break up her relationship with Saxon? All of the above?

2. The "Talk"...Again

Saxon and I carried my bags up to my room. "Just throw them anywhere." I say, while walking over to my dresser and taking out my earrings.

Saxon came over to me and hugged me from behind. My body automatically fell back into him, savoring his touch. His lips meet the tip of my ear, and he gently kisses it as he whispers three simple words that mean so much. "I love you, Michelle. More than anything or anybody in the world."

I drop my other earring on my dresser and I turn to face him. "And Saxon Lyman, I love you. No matter what; through thick and thin." I smile up at him.

Then I frown once I see the weird look on his face. "What's wrong?" I ask.

I knew what he was going to say though. We have this talk every single time I hang out with him. "Derek. That's what's wrong. Don't you see, Michelle? He has feelings for you. He wants to be more than friends with you. He wants to break us up."

I started to get frustrated at this same stupid conversation. "Who the hell did you here that from? This is ridiculous, Saxon. We are JUST FRIENDS! What don't you understand? Besides, he likes Laine anyways."

"That's not the point though. Guys have a tendency to like more than one girls at a time. It's what we do." His voice was very calm now. But what he just said blew my mind. What was he trying to say? Did he just confess to liking another girl other than me?

"What do you mean? Are you saying you like another girl other than me?"

He chuckled, which only made me even more furious. "Don't get jealous now, Michelle. I never said that. I love you. You only. But what I'm saying is that sure, Derek likes Laine, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have feelings for you too."

I laughed, but there was no humor in it. "We tease and joke around with each other, sure. But that doesn't mean we have feelings for each other. We're more like brother and sister if anything. I love him. I do. But I'm not in love with him. I'm in love with a sweet, lovely guy who've I've been dating for three years now. And his name is...?" I left the question hanging for him to finish.

Saxon looked at me then at the ground. "Saxon..." He said, barely audible.

"What was that?" I ask.

"Saxon." He mumbled a little louder.

"I still can't hear you..."

He looked straight into my eyes as he says, "Saxon. Saxon Lyman."

I slowly walk towards him, and I get lost in his beautiful green eyes. "Yes. I'm in love with my boyfriend, Saxon Lyman."

He sighed with defeat. "You promise nothing is going on with you and Derek?"

I held out my pinkie. "Pinkie promise."

His twice-as-large pinkie locked with mine, and at the same time we leaned in for a kiss. The kiss was full of bliss, and it showed me that our love was still strong as ever.

Let's just hope the last few weeks of summer go just as smoothly.
