9. Chapter 9

"Well what are we gonna do?" Zack asked, slightly concerned. Well I'm pretty sure we should let him cool off before we try talking to him, but I'm pretty sure he's going to rant to Jess, she'll get sad because we called her clingy and then she'll try to make him stay with her for a while. I could be wrong but that's usually the way her fucked up head works." I sighed.

"What was that last part?" Rian looked at me with raised eyebrows. "What last part?" I asked, pretending like I didn't know what I said.

"You said Jess' head was fucked up." Zack glanced over at me. "Do you hate her or something?"

"Well hate doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about her. I mean I don't want to cause problems between her and Alex because he clearly loves her, but she's a real bitch." I looked at the floor, avoiding eye contact from anyone. "She insulted me and Brooklyn. I mean I don't care that she insulted me but Brooklyn did absolutely nothing wrong. She needs to realize that the world doesn't revolve around her."

"Woah, I didn't know you felt that way about her. I know you weren't on the best terms but I never expected that." Jack wrapped his arm around me, in some sort of attempt to calm my anger.

"Yeah, I mean it's not a big deal but she just makes me mad sometimes. Let's stop talking about this before I get really angry." I laughed slightly.

"Well back to what we were originally talking about, what are we going to do about the whole Alex thing?" Zack questioned.

"Someone's going to have to talk to him. Maybe Cassidy should." Rian suggested. "Why me?" I looked at Rian, confusion filling my features.

"You are pretty close with Alex. Sure, we're close with him too, but you didn't say anything. Besides, you're a girl." Jack laughed slightly at his last comment.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I raised my eyebrows, acting a little hurt. "It means that you're better at situations like this and know what to say. We're guys, not the best at figuring out what to say." At this point I knew Jack was trying to say anything and everything to make me talk to Alex so none of the guys would have to.

"Fine. I'll talk to him. I can call him or something. But if you guys want me to talk to him face-to-face then one of you will have to drive me over to Jess' house and stay there." I groaned, hoping that they wouldn't want me to go over to Jess' house.

"Considering what happened and how it happened, it's probably better if you have the conversation in person as opposed to on the phone where he can hang up on you or not answer at all." Zack pointed out, Rian and Jack nodding in agreement. "And if you need a ride, I'll drive you."

"Thanks Zack. Oh and if Alex or Jess yell at me I'll kill you all." I smirked, walking over by the door to put on my shoes.

Jack cleared his throat from behind me. "Forgetting about something?" He pointed at me. I looked down, noticing that I hadn't changed out of my pyjamas. I laughed. "Not really a big deal. They're comfortable."

"Come on Cassidy, let's go." Zack called out to me. I got my shoes on and walked out the door, waving to Rian and Jack before closing it.

Zack and I got in the car and began driving to Jess' hous-Well apartment actually. She lived in the downstairs apartment in someone's house. It was a pretty nice place (I've been there once or twice because Alex invited the band over and told me to come along). It was kind of small and in all honesty I'm surprised it can hold her big head. Well maybe that was a little mean. Oh well.

I looked out the passenger window, admiring the houses and then remembered what I was about to do. If Jess answered the door, there'd be hell to pay. But on the other hand, if Alex opened the door, maybe it wouldn't be as bad. Either way I was still scared shitless.

After a few minutes we arrived at Jess' apartment. I gave Zack a look of worry and he put his hand on my shoulder. "It'll be fine. Don't get yourself so worked up over it." He smiled.

I took a deep breath and opened the car door. I slowly got out and looked at Zack one more time before walking around the side of the house to the back door. My anxiety spiked slightly, probably because Jess could possibly kill me if she found out I was on her doorstep.

"Okay Cassidy, you're being ridiculous, it's only Alex. Everything's fine. Just grow a pair and knock on the damn door." I whispered to myself.

Finally I got the courage to knock on the door, looking through the window. Sadly, Jess was the one to open the door. Well it is her house so I guess I should've expected her. She looked at me with disgust.

"What the hell are you doing here? Aren't you worried animal control might find you?" She sneered, rolling her eyes at me.

"I'm here to talk to Alex, if you could get him that'd be greatly appreciated." I tried acting as civil as I possibly could with her, mostly because she had the power to shut the door in my face and if I was rude to her I definitely wouldn't be allowed speaking to Alex.

"He doesn't want to talk to any of you. He told me what they said. What a bunch of cruel people you all are." She began slowly closing the door. Luckily I caught it with my foot. "Alex!" I shouted, hopefully he can hear me. "Alex!"

"I already told you, he doesn't want to talk to you!" She screamed, slamming the door shut.

I could hear Alex talking to Jess and I hoped that he would come outside and talk to me. Luckily, he decided to open the door. "Hey."

"Hey Alex, okay about earlier-" He cut me off. "It was really rude and all I can say is that I thought you guys were my friends." Alex spoke softly, sounding disappointed.

"Alex, we are your friends. None of the guys meant anything they said. It's just that it seems like you like spending time with Jess more than us. You can't just dump your friends because of your girlfriend." I mumbled, feeling slightly upset. "I know you love her and don't get to see her a whole lot but your friends should be important too. Especially since you guys are supposed to be talking about your upcoming tour."

"I didn't dump you guys for Jess and I don't mean to be spending so much time with her. But what you guys did was completely uncalled for, it hurt." Alex whispered the last part. He looked me in the eyes and I noticed his eyes were beginning to water.

"Alex, please come back. We're all really sorry about it and we didn't expect you to get so mad. We didn't mean any of it. Please come back." I lightly touched his shoulder and looked into his eyes as I spoke. He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. "Okay, I'll come back. But if I hear any of you talking about Jess like that again, I'm leaving and most likely not coming back."

"That's entirely understandable. Since you drove here I'll let you come back when you want to. I'm gonna leave with Zack, considering he drove me here." I laughed lightly. Alex smiled at me, nodding.

I hugged Alex and told him I'd see him later, then headed back to the car. I climbed in, smiling at Zack and explaining what happened. Then we headed home.
