13. Chapter 13

We got downstairs and I placed down the blankets and pillows as Alex laid the food on the table. I turned to him and smiled. "It's been a while since we've been down here without the guys. It's funny how they're always around."

"Yeah." Alex said blankly. I walked over to him and hugged him, rubbing his back.

"Let's help you feel better. Alright Lex?" I felt him nod as he hugged me back. "I'm going to go put on my pyjamas, you can change in here."

"We've pretty much grown up together and have changed in front of each other multiple times, what's so different now?" Alex asked, laughed. I picked up my pyjamas and turned to him. "Well back then I didn't really have boobs and was much smaller. So if you don't mind, I'll be right back." I walked out of the room before he could respond.

I got undressed in the bathroom and stared at myself in the mirror, looking at the scars that ruined my thighs. It made me feel sick. Especially seeing the newer scars. A tear rolled own my cheek. I wiped it away and I got changed.

"Hey Cassidy, I put on a random movie. Is that okay?" Alex asked when I re-entered the room. "Yeah it's fine. We can lie down and talk if you want."

I walked over to the pile of blankets and pillows on the floor and lied down, grabbing a blanket and wrapping it around my shoulders. Alex sat down next to me, grabbed a blanket of his own and leaned on my shoulder. I leaned my head onto his and sighed.

"What's the sigh about?" Alex questioned, looking up at me. "Just a little tired from that amazing bowling I did." I giggled.

Alex nodded and looked back at the television. I glanced down and him a smiled to myself. It felt good to be spending time with him, except for the circumstances. The whole situation Jess put him through made me feel really shitty. He doesn't deserve to be put in that situation. He's a great guy even if he did scream at me earlier; I don't care, everyone makes mistakes.

After a half an hour of watching the movie I started getting bored. I moved over to the table and grabbed a few snacks. Alex looked over at me and smiled. "Someone's hungry already, are they?"

"Maybe a little bit. The movie isn't interesting enough." I laughed and fixed the blanket around me.

I took some sour gummy worms and threw them at Alex in an attempt to get his attention. I hit him in the back of the head but he didn't budge. I threw a handful at him and he finally turned around, laughing. "Why do you keep throwing those at me?"

I shrugged and threw another one, hitting him in the nose. He laughed, standing up and walking over to me. "You do realise I get payback, right?"

Before I knew it I was pinned to the floor by Alex as he attacked my sides. I was out of breath immediately and tried to escape, which was a little difficult considering he was sitting on me. "A-Alex please!" I laughed breathlessly.

"But you threw gummy worms at me!" Alex laughed, still tickling me. I laughed as I attempted to catch my breath. "I'm sorry Alex!"

He got off me and laughed, lying on the floor next to me. I looked over at him and smiled. "You're such a dick."

"I know." He giggled and rolled over onto me. "Alex why are you lying on me?"

"For fun. Aren't you having fun?" He asked, laying his head on my chest. I laid one hand behind my neck and played with his hair with the other. "Well as long as you're having fun that's all that matters. You're okay now, right?"

"Yeah I'm fine. Thanks for not leaving me all alone tonight. I probably wouldn't have been able to handle it." He sighed heavily, relaxing onto my chest even more. I kissed the top of his head. "I wasn't planning on leaving you alone with the state you were in; I'm not crazy."

"I know you aren't. That's one of the good things about you." Alex moved his head, placing his chin on my chest and looking at me. "I think I know what I'm going to do about Jess."

"Yeah? What are you gonna do?" I asked as I felt my heart rate increase, a little worried about hearing his response. "Well I think I'm done with Jess. She's done too many terrible things that I never took notice of. I feel really bad about when she hit you. I know I didn't really say anything about it and I regret it. I'm sorry for anything she's ever said to you. I'm sorry I've been a shitty friend. I'm just sorry for everything, I guess."

"Listen Alex, you have no control over anything your girlfriend does. And you're not a shitty friend; you're an amazing one. Don't ever say anything like that." I looked directly into Alex's eyes as I spoke to him and noticed that he was tearing up a little.

"See? This is why you're such a great friend." Alex looked at me for a moment then glanced to my mouth. He looked into my eyes once again and slowly moved his head forwards.

Before I could control myself, I was moving towards Alex until our lips finally met. My stomach erupted into butterflies and my lips tingled. But the kiss didn't feel quite right; almost as if something was wrong about it. The whole situation made me feel a little off. I continued kissing Alex anyway, dismissing the feeling. After what seemed like forever we both pulled away, Alex resting his forehead against mine. We both smiled at each other, even though I still didn't feel quite right but I quickly dismissed the feeling once again.

"So that happened." Alex said after a long silence. I giggled. "Yeah I guess it did."

Alex moved, grabbing blankets and pillows. He set them up in a comfortable heap on the floor and we both crawled into it. He pulled me close to him and placed my head on his chest. I rolled onto my side, putting my left arm across his torso and my left leg across his.

"Let's try getting some sleep, it's late." Alex spoke softly as he wrapped his arm around me, pulling me closer.

I nodded and closed my eyes, feeling Alex kiss the top of my head. The last thing I remember was Alex humming and slightly rocking before I drifted to sleep.
