The water was always her first love. Fire was her enemy. But united, what is the consequence? Will she burn and will he drown...

2. Trying

My feet hit the sand beneath the water and I stood up. The sky had an orange hue thanks to the morning sun. I heard to bold ocean crash against the rocks behind me and I turned to look at the dawn breaking on the horizon. I strode towards the steps that led up to the large country house i called home.

My Mum was waiting for me as I went through the back door into the kitchen and her face told me that she wasn't happy with my early morning outing. I ran upstairs, not even glancing at her, afraid to make eye contact. I reached the top of the stairs and was almost to my room when I heard someone clear their throat behind me.

"Where were you?" I turned and saw my sixteen year old sister, Lyla. Her long auburn hair was silky and recently showered and her long tanned, legs were barely hidden underneath the pink, cotton sundress she had chosen to wear. She was tall and tanned and adored by everyone. She was always the first to remind me how lacking I was in the looks department.

"Well..." God, she was persistent. Her perfect, honey-coloured eyes narrowed and she was about to say something when we were interrupted. Chase was coming out of his room and was trying to dry his flyaway brown hair with a towel. I didn't have time for this. Although Chase was definitely my favourite sibling and was eighteen years old, he could talk for ages so I excused my self and finally reached my bedroom door, opened it and closed the barrier that kept the real world away from my world.
