16. Chapter 16

Ron's POV

The day passed without further incident and Hermione refused to look into my eyes, what if I'd blown it. We closed the shop around 5 George looked at us nervously, as Hermione kissed me on the cheek before leaving.

"Dude, what happened?" he said.

"To be completely honest I'm not entirely sure." I said staring out the door "We said we loved each other and then things started to get, ummm, heated and then she sort of fell apart, we hardly talked all day, it was torture!"

"You need to talk to her, properly." they said

"Okay, that's on tomorrows to-do list," I said and trudged upstairs to bed. I found my notebook on my bed, the one I'd magically paired with Hermione's I opened it and inside were two words 'I'm sorry'

I woke up the next morning feeling immensely guilty, I think I pushed her too far. I checked the clock, 10:30 am time to get up.  Someone knocked softly at the door, "Come in," I groaned sleepily. A small bushy haired witch pushed the door open, "Hermione about yester-" I started but she held up a hand to silence me.

"No, it was my fault I'm sorry I ran out on you. I do love you Ron, I just got carried away and then I panicked."

"I'm sorry too," I said "I shouldn't have pushed you like that it wasn't fair and it'll never happen again," She nodded her head and sat down on the bed next to me.

We got better as the day went on and by the end we were smiling and laughing again ."Come on, love," and I apparated us to her parents' house.

"Evening," she shouted as we walked in the front door.

"Hermione," said a voice from the next room, "Come in here, there's someone we want you to meet-Oh! Hello Ron," he said nodding to me. "Would you mind if I had a private chat with my daughter?"

"Not at all, sir." I said, anxious though still polite.

-Hermione's POV-

"Hermione, this is Xavier," said dad, as he pulled me through to the lounge, away from Ron. On the sofa sat a straw-haired, brown-eyed, rather slim boy who looked oddly familiar.

"He's an apprentice at the surgery; we were hoping you'd be friends." Oh. They were trying to set me up. No, I was with Ron.

"Dad, I already have a boyfr-"

"I know but do you really want to be dating a joke-shop owner or a person who is training to become auror or whatever? Don't you have any ambition?" For God's sake why couldn't he accept I was with Ron? "Anyway it doesn't matter, Xavier is who I was going to suggest as your new husband."
