7. Chapter Six:

When I finally regained control of myself, I was sprawled out over a rock, butt naked, and in unfamiliar territory.

I spotted my shirt and and jeans sitting a few feet from me and I grabbed them quickly slipping them on. At least Karly made sure to pack up my clothes before shifting, I thought.

And when I unconsciously went to feel for her presence in the back of my mind, I was utterly confused as to why I couldn't. My sight became blurred as I frantically felt for her in the back of my mind.

Was she hiding? I sank to my knees in despair. My breathing became sharp and more forced as I let out a small cry.

Where was she? My mind desperately sought out a reasonable answer.

I took a look at my surroundings. It was very rare for me to go out of control, so I haven't really explored the woods all that much.

Then my phone starting vibrating in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw my moms name on the screen. I quickly answered it.

"Honey! Where are you? I'm coming to get you." She said determinedly.

"I-I don't know. Somewhere in the woods." I stuttered.

"What happened?"

"Aiyanna found her mate..." I trailed off. She gasped.

"Really? Did she rub it in your face? I'm so sorry!"

"It's fine. I'd be overly excited too." I admitted.

"Do you know how long you were out? Maybe you're right by the pack house!" I rubbed my temple and looked at the clock on my phone.

"An hour." I replied. "So that means-" A loud branch snapping stole my attention.

"Lucy? What's happening?" My mom asked.

"I don't know..." I trailed off, squinting into the dark bushes that surrounded me. A solf growl errupted from the bush and I took a cautious step back. "I'll call you back mom." I said, hanging up before she could protest.

"Who's there?" I called out. Another branch snapped and I found myself face to face with Aiyanna's wolf.

"Hey." I said softly. She looked at me with big sad eyes and I motioned my head for her to change, so we could talk.

She trotted behind a bush and soon Aiyanna peered around at me. She took a cautious step towards me and when I didn't move a tear fell down her cheek.

"I-I-I'm so sorry!" She stuttered, looking down at the ground.

"It's fine." I replied. She looked up at me in suprise, like she didn't actually think that I'd forgive her so easily.

"We were so worried." She whispered. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because we thought that you... We thought that you..." She trailed off, looking at me expectantly.

They thought that I killed myself.

"You can't get rid of me that easy." Like how they got rid of Aiden.

"Do you want me to take you home? There's a road only a mile from here. You don't have to shift." Aiyanna explained.

"Sure. I could use a good nap." I said. We walked in silence to the road, Aiyanna sending me nervous glances the whole way.

"If you ever want to talk about I'm here." She muttered. My face remained emotionless.

"I'll keep that in mind." I replied. As I got into the passenger side of her car I saw her shoulders sag considerably.

As she got in I realized what I needed to do to make her feel better. "So tell me about him." I began. She looked at me in shock.

"Zeke?" She clarified. I nodded.

"He's perfect." She said with a small smile. A love struck expression took over her face and I unsuccessfully tried not to regret my decision in bringing it up.

"Atleast we get to spend a lot of time together, you being my Beta's mate and all." I stated

"It'll be fun." She replied cheerfully. The rest of the car ride was filled with chatter on how perfect Zeke's hair, smile, and personalitly was. Even though they had only been together an hour, maybe less, I could tell that the mate bond was already forming.

"I need to call my mom." I interrupted Aiyanna in the middle of her small rant about Zeke's eyes.

The phone rang twice before my mom's cheery voice answered.

"Hey mom, I'm coming home." I said.

"Ok, I'll see you when you get here." She replied.

"Bye." I hung up. "Sorry, what were you saying?" I asked Aiyanna.

"Nothing. Just saying how excited I am to meet the pack tomorrow." She beamed. I nodded and smiled slightly.

"I'm excited too. But mostly nervous. What if they don't like me?" I tried to start the normal conversation that best friends usually have when something big is happening.

Honestly, I wasn't nervous at all. I felt like I had already bonded with the pack members over Aiden. As we drove into my driveway I let out a relieved sigh. I needed to see Aiden, especially after everything that's happened today.

"Bye, Lucy. I'll pick you up tomorrow about noon, Ok?" I nodded in response, quickly getting out and walking to the door where my mother was waiting for me. She waved at Aiyanna before wrapping an arm around me and guiding me to my bedroom.

"How was it?" She asked.

"Everyone was nice." I said. She nodded.

"They called me when you ran away. They said that you accepted the position. That's great sweetie!" She exclaimed.

"It is mom. But I think I just need a nap now. See you at dinner?" I asked, grabbing some pajama pants from out of my dresser and changing into them.

"Sure, honey!" She shut the door quietly and I relaxed into my bed.

After trying to will myself to sleep for the first ten minutes I eventually cleared my mind and fell into a light sleep.

As my eyes shut a bright light enveloped me and I opened my eyes again to see the sun. The smell of fresh grass and flowers invaded my senses and I inhaled deeply.

"Hey." A deep voice came from the right of me. Tremors ran down my spine as fingers lightly traced my finger tips.

I was laying down somewhere in a field, the bright and warm sun was shining on my face. I craned my head to see Aiden smiling down at me.

"Hi." I muttered back.

"Did you have fun meeting Zeke?" He asked. I nodded.

"He seems nice. He's Aiyanna's mate. Aiyanna is my best friend." I said. He grinned.

"I'm happy for him." He said. Then he stroked my hair. "But I'm even happier for me." I blushed then I sat up next to him.

"Something happened today." I began, looking away and fiddling with a small dandelion.

"What?" He immediately sounded concerned.

"I lost my wolf. I can't feel her anymore." I whispered, trying not to break down into tears. Werewolves received their wolves at a young age and you're used to have someone with you all the time, talking in your head.

Aiden sighed, dragging his hand through his dark brown hair. "I know something about that." He murmured. I looked at him in confusion.

"What happened?"

"When the moon goddess brought me back, she only brought back my human side. My wolf is left in the spirit world. When your wolf looses her mate, it wouldn't be long until she joined my wolf in the spirit world as well."

"I'm human?" Tears formed at the edges of my eyes.

So I hope you enjoyed! I probably won't update until after November!
