A pack is left leaderless until Lucy comes along and is encouraged to take the role. Will it be too much? A broken pack with a weary leader. How far can Lucy go when she finds out that Aiden's killer is after her too?

5. Chapter Four:

He stepped out from the darkness of the door and I was instantly struck at his beauty.

He had dark brown hair that swooped across his forehead. He had a long scar that went from his cheek bone to his chin on the right side of his face.

"Hello?" A deep toned voice said, snapping me out of my daydream.

The Moon Goddess left the room, closing the door as she went.

"Hey." I said shyly.

"I'm Aiden. And you are?" He asked with an easygoing smile.

"Lucy." I replied. He took a strand of my long blonde hair and twirled it around his finger.

"Pretty name." He commented. I blushed in response.

"I'm sorry." I blurted out suddenly.

"For what?" He asked, his lips turning up slightly at the corners.

"That you had to die." I whispered, looking down, not wanting my emotions to take over me.

He grasped my chin gently, and forced me to look up at him. "At least I'm here now, with you." He murmured.

"But your pack? Your family?" I replied. His face fell.

"I should've seen it coming." He said, closing his eyes.

"The car came out of nowhere, you wouldn't have seen it even if you were looking." I muttered.

"I had a pretty good distraction, didn't I?" A smile appeared on his face and he opened his eyes.

"But still, I knew that they were bound to make a move sometime." He said, falling into thought.

"What?" I asked, confused.

"Lucy the car crash wasn't an accident." He said slowly, staring directly into my eyes.

I flinched. "Not an accident?"

He shook his head. "No."

My breath caught in my throat. Someone had taken him away from me.

"Why." I ground out, trying to calm Karly down as she was fighting to be released, to find Aiden's killer.

"Lucy, you gotta calm down." Aiden said, taking my hands in his.

Sparks ran along my spine at his touch.

"Why?" I snapped.

"I got involved in things that I shouldn't of. I'm so sorry Lucy." Aiden said with absolute sincerity. I sighed.

"Sometimes sorry isn't good enough Aiden! We could've had a good life with family and.. and.." My voice cracked and tears pricked at my eyes.

"Now I'm expected to take over your pack and lead them to victory? What the heck does that mean?" I exclaimed, tears running freely down my face.

He pulled me into his arms, running his hands over my back soothingly.

"I don't even know. But what I do know is that I'll be there for you the whole way. Ok?" He said, resting his chin on my head.

"Ok." I whimpered. Karly was having a freaking heart attack at him touching us.

"I think you're waking up." Aiden said. I looked down at my arms and sure enough they were fading.

"Goodbye." I said softly, before a white light engulfed me and I opened my eyes to my bedroom.

I stretched my arms out above my head. I felt slightly more peace, knowing that all interaction with my mate wasn't completely gone.

But the pain in my heart was still there from the knowledge that it wasn't an accident that killed Aiden.

I sat up and threw my legs over the side of my bed.

I heard the usual sounds of the morning throughout my house. The radio was blasting from in the bathroom, and I could hear my mom belting out lyrics.

It was just my mom and I living together, my dad ditched us when I was little. I got up and slowly trudged into the living room, diving onto the brown leather couch.

I was just beginning to fall back asleep when the phone started ringing. I heard my mom still singing, so I reluctantly dragged my self over to the phone and lazily picked it up to my ear.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hello Lucy!" A bleak voice came from the phone. I recognized it as Valerie, Aiden's mom.

"Oh hi!" I replied.

"I was just wondering if you'd like to come by today to meet the Beta." Valerie said.

"I'd love to." I said instantly. I heard her sigh in relief.

"And I'd like to talk to you about.. Well.. Aiden." She continued, her voice cracking at the end.

"That's fine. I'll be at the pack house around one?" I asked.

"Sounds good sweetie. Bye." Then she hung up. I hung up too and I huffed.

This would be a new beginning for me, a whole new pack. And if I was supposed to lead them to victory, then you could be sure that I'd be ready.

A/N Sorry that this is so short! The next chapter will be longer and better, I promise.
