Danny and Owen. Two young lovers. Banned from seeing each other by disapproving parents. They do everything they can to stay together. But their parents are onto them.

2. Dinner-Owen

Dinner was eaten in stony silence. Mum had been in a funny mood ever since I broke the plate and no one wanted to make it worse. The heat from the curry was stronger today but I didn't say anything. Mum was already mad at me. Sophie and Peter were clearly struggling with the spice and I made a note to give them some milk after.

"So where did you go today Owen?" Dad said attempting to add a cheerful tone to his voice.

"Er. I went to the park to do some reading." Mum stopped eating and looked up at me.

"Without your book?" She asked. Her voice was casual but she glared at me suspiciously.

"I took a different one"

"Which one?"

"Can't remember" I glared back at her. I wasn't in the mood for one of her interrogations. No one said anything. Dad gave me an apologetic look for his conversation fail which turned into a sour question and answer session.

I thought back to the park remembering Danny's face when she saw the necklace. I smiled to myself glad that I hadn't spent a lot of money on something she didn't like. I focused on her smile picturing it in my mind and felt the anger melt away. I glanced up at mum and saw her furiously murmuring to dad. I sighed and finished my meal as quickly as possible. Sophie and Peter had given up eating and just sat there awkwardly.

"C'mon. Thanks for the food" I directed the last bit to mum as I stood up leading Peter and Sophie to the kitchen with our plates. I got them a glass of milk each and ran up to my room. Picking up my book I collapsed onto my bed to began to read. The story played in my head like a film. After a few hours I fell asleep, the sour meal forgotten .
