23. Coffee at last

When I woke up I was still sitting on the couch with Dylan’s arm around me I sat up trying not to wake him and slid his arm out from around my shoulders. After being successful I walked off towards the kitchen in the kitchen Mason was sitting a mug of coffee in his hand.

“Hey how did you make that,” I said sounding surprised as I pointed at the coffee in his hand.

“Oh this,” he said turning around, Easy here I’ll make you one.” He stood up and grabbed a mug and poured the thick black liquid from a jug. I felt it in my hand.

“It’s hot!” I exclaimed sounding surprised, “How is it hot I thought it would be cold.”

“Well don’t sound too surprised there is a little bit of gas left in this world,” he said laughing at my amazement, “Come on sit down.” I obeyed him and took the seat next to him. He looked sat but I didn’t bring him up instead I started swinging on my chair and chucking apples at him.

“Hey don’t do that we can eat those ones,” he said pushing a bowl of mouldy ones, “Here use these.” I nodded and started chucking them. He picked up a chopping board and we started playing a weird version of mouldy apples and chopping board cricket. We were so engrossed in the game that we didn’t even notice Molly come in but we realised once we heard her giggling.

“What are you doing,” she said smiling, “Do you know how daft you look.”

“We are making use of mouldy apples,” Mason said laughing, “Turns out they do have a use I wish I had learnt this 5 years ago cause me and my friends would have loved this.”

“Yeah I guess my sister would have too,” I said suddenly starting to cry so Mason put his arm around me.

“Hey its ok don’t cry,” he said frowning, “Hey lets change the topic I’m sorry.” Molly nodded and as I drained the dredges of my coffee cup Dylan walked in. His hair was a mess and he looked like he had been dragged through a hedge backwards.

“You look like a monster yourself you know,” I said laughing as he walked in and smiled.

“You don’t look so good yourself you know,” he said pulling a face and I giggled at him and pulled one back.

“Are you two done flirting I’m trying to drink my cup of coffee,” Mason said sighing.

“Coffee where’s mine?” Dylan said Mason gave him the all gone signal so I sat back down next to him and gave him my second cup kindly. He smiled and drank it while Mason rolled his eyes so I started chucking the fruit again and we carried on playing cricket.
