14. A Plan

Dal slumped in her chair, waiting for the lesson to end. But of course, the clock just kept on ticking unbelievably slowly. It didn't help that she was in History and they were discussing the reliability of one of the sources, which had to be the most boring thing EVER! At least herleg didn't  hurt anymore though; the cast had been removed the day before. Dal tried to look at the board and read it, but gave up with the boredom.

However, Dal didn't mind it; she desperately needed a distraction from home. Her parents were already sorting out money and possessions and Dal knew that they would soon decide where she should stay. Even though she loved her parents more than anyone else, she was incredibly angry at them. How dare they ruin her life like this? How dare they?

", yes, what's the answer?" She snapped awake, realising her mistake.

"Oh, um..." She stared at the board hoping for a clue, "...I don't know, Sir." The teacher sighed.

"Okay, urm, Jenny, do you know?" The girl, Jenny, answered quietly and the class went on.

"So, Dal, we've decided. You're going to stay with me, but see your father every weekend." Dal just burst into tears. She didn't know what to think.

"Oh, no honey, please, we had to make a decision. Look, Dal, what would you have preferred?" Her Mum said, obviously upset that her solution had gone down so badly.

"Just for none of this to have happened! Please, just leave me alone! Decide what you want, I don't care. There's no way you're changing your minds, so I might as well just go and sit in hole someplace else!" She yelled, then stormed off to her bedroom upstairs. And when she got there, she made a plan:

If her parents were going to hurt her this way, then she would hurt them another. Dal grabbed her school rucksack and a satchel bag and filled them with all her school equipment, as many of her clothes as possible, the £100 she'd been given for her birthday and a blanket. She was ready to run away.
