Roses for Roselyn (Niall and Harry Fanfictions)

She was just an ordinary, grounded girl with a young, obsessive sister... little did she know that her sister's biggest idol was obsessing over her. Join Rosie and Rachel on their journey in love, friendship, obsession, fame and passion. What will happen? Who will happen? And most importantly, how will they cope with the disadvantages of 'the good life'?

41. Car Journey

“Okay, the car’s just up here guys.”

Rachel was leading the way down the last part of the street, with Louis in tow, and was gesturing to the car park that was on our right. I was holding Rosie’s hand pulling her up the slight hill of the road. “Come on Rosie. Don’t make me pick you up again.” I teased her with a grin and she sped up at the idea of being hoisted into the air; probably worried about everything beneath her skirt being put on show for the passing drivers and pedestrians –not that I would let that happen.

Rachel and Louis were deep in conversation and reaching the car so I felt Rosie flick the switch on the car keys so that the lights lit up and the doors unlocked.

The two of them slid into the back seats while Louis leaned forward to turn on the radio and put the volume up a few notches as they carried on their conversation.

I was about to go around to the passenger seat when Rosie called me back “Wait here a second.” She gave me an irresistible smile so I shuffled to where she waited at the boot of the black Range Rover, hands in my pockets against the chilly wind, where she held onto one of my shoulders and opened the boot to change her white heels into a baby pink pair of ankle high converses.

“I don’t get why you girls wear heels. They’re so impractical.” I laughed as she struggled to change her shoes; hopping around, trying not to touch the floor. I wasn’t impatient, just trying to be a gentleman. “Here.” I picked her up easily, from under the arms, and sat her down on the edge of the boot before kneeling onto the ground. Rosie was swinging her legs slightly so I grabbed it gently to change her shoes and tie them with similar, dainty bows on either side.

“But they’re so pretty.” She cooed at her huge white heels and I smiled fondly at her “Thank you.” I was rewarded with a quick kiss on the cheek as she hopped off and got into the driver’s seat.  I closed the boot and walked back around the side of her brother’s car to jump into the comfy passenger seat beside her.

“You’re welcome.” I turned on the heating and she started fussing over all of us, to make sure that we were comfortable and ready to go. “Just drive Rosie.” I laughed softly at her fussiness and nestled back into my seat to watch her reverse out of the space and onto the road.

“Rach, you know where we’re going?”

“Yeah. Louis told me he knows a quicker way though.” I looked back at the smiling clown and could imagine Rosie being quite sceptical about that idea.

“Don’t worry, he’s a good driver so he knows where he’s going –especially in central London.”

“See carrot princess! Don't think i didn't see your eyes roll! Don’t judge a book by its cover -that's what I always say.” Louis pulled a retarded face before winking to make his point. “I drive myself and El around London a lot whenever she’s down so I get to find out all the quickest routes and stuff.”

“El’s your girlfriend right?”

“Yeah.” He smiled to himself as he spoke. “You girls would get on with her really well –the boys do! She’s up in Manchester at the moment. That’s where she went to university so she has loads of friends up there. Her family live there too.” I smiled and watched Rosie as she concentrated on the road and Louis told us all about Manchester, and us boys’ experiences of going up there for concerts and weekend breaks.

One of the best things about being in Lou’s company –apart from his humorous personality- was how easily he talked about anything and everything. It made the atmosphere of the car really easy going and meant that we didn’t have to make an effort to talk until Louis aimed questions at each of us in turn.

I felt Rosie’s eyes dart over to me on a few occasions, whilst she drove the journey from Central London to Croydon, but each time I looked up, her eyes only lingered on mine for a few seconds before diverting back to the light traffic that lay on the road. Unluckily for Rosie, it was the fourth time it happened, that Louis -who was practicing being an officer of the road (a profession that Louis thought he’d be great doing)- saw her look over at me.

“EYES ON THE ROAD STEPHENS!” All three of us jumped out of our seats as Louis barked into the front of the car “There’ll be plenty of time for... that... later.” He said it with mock-disgust in his voice, but before he could finish his sentence, the two back seat passengers cracked up laughing. Including Rachel, who cried continuously, as Rosie blushed a rich shade of pink from behind the wheel. I squeezed her hand, amused at her embarrassment, and gave her a sorry smile.

“Louis. Scream like that in my car, one more time, I dare you. You’ll be walking the whole way.” She giggled from the front seat as she watched him through the rearview mirror. I couldn’t help but think ‘that’s my girl' in the back of my head.

Louis shrank back into his seat, still laughing as he ran his hand over his stubble; wiping away any leftover tears from his face. “Okay. Sorry Rosie. I won’t do it again.”

“Jesus.” She laughed “You’re like a child... bloody scared me though.”

“Me too.” I took my trainers off and placed my feet on top of the dashboard as I hummed our song that was now being played on the radio. “Ready Louis?” Louis and I started singing the lyrics to the chorus, no longer interested in keeping quiet and humming.

“The story of my life, I’ll take her home, I drive all night to keep her warm, and time... is fro-o-o-ozen.” My eyes were glued on Rosie as she tapped her fingers on the wheel and smiled through the windows of the car as she kept the speed slow.

“The story of my life, I give her hope, I spend her love, until she’s broke inside. The story of my life.”

It was only when louis allowed me to sing my own solo, straight after, that she dared to look back at me -her smile beaming, her dimple distinguished and cute.

"Written on these walls are the colours that I cannot change." I took her spare hand off the wheel and interlocked my fingers with hers as I belted out the notes "Leave my heart open but it stays right here in its cage"

I turned behind me, to a now swaying Louis who had Rachel under his arm, as he screamed "And I'll be gone, gone tonight

The fire beneath my feet is burning bright

The way that I've been holdin' on so tight

With nothing in between

We all belted out the final choruses and I chuckled to myself as Rosie swung her shoulders in time and the street lights illuminated her white teeth as the formed the lyrics that she obviously already knew.

"Good job guys!" Louis highfived everyone in the car.

It was then that I noticed Harry's far had popped up on my iPhone.

'Incoming Call'.

"Yo, bro put us on speaker." I heard Liam say hey and Zayn copied my accent as he also said hullo.

I plugged the stereo into my phone using an attachment cable and Rosie smiled at me as I waited for her permission to put them on loud speaker. "Okay, you're on."

Their voices were sounded from the front to the very back of the car through the large speakers.

It was Louis that screamed first "Hello? Can you hear us? Anybody there?"

"Yes, we can hear you perfectly fine without the shouting! Keep it down Lou." Louis laughed madly in return.

"Right, we're in your apartment Niall. What do you need us to get for you?"

"Er..." I took a second to think "a change of clothes for tomorrow, a pair of jogging bottoms, a tshirt to sleep in, my toothbrush and all that. I think that should be it. Oh wait, get me a beanie and a pair of sunglasses too -just incase."

I could hear Zayn and his Yorkshire accent, telling the boys that he would go and get them now. I trusted all of their fashion senses -luckily, the only one that I trusted to mess up my clothes was sitting behind me waving his hand in front of my face.

"Okay, Zayn's getting it all now. What does Lou want?"

"Same as Niall please, but can you get me an extra jumper -this weather is freezing Harry."

"Oh yeah! And my coat please Haz." I remembered.

"Sure thing. Rosie, do you need anything that we can bring with us? Food for breakfast? Anything like that?"

"No it's cool, I can go and get some breakfast in the morning for everyone."

"Are you sure?"

"Okay then. We'll see you guys soon. We'll try to be as quick as possible, but we need to get all of our stuff."

"Okay, later mate."

I hung up and found out from Rosie that we were about 5 minutes away. "Nearly home." I sang to the rest of the car; excited at the long night and day that stood ahead of us, as a group of friends.
