Marriage Contract [ON HOLD]

"You may not kiss the bride"

Keira Bright is a talented girl. She's a fashion designer and a supermodel. Not only talented, professionalism also courses through her veins. However, one day, she had to face financial problems caused by her father, who is addicted to gambling and eventually fled - leaving her behind to pay back his depths. That's when she met Harry Styles, the head owner of the most well-known resort throughout the whole world, World Resort Hotel. Harry instantly fell in love with her from the moment he saw her but problem is, she doesn't feel the same way. "Here, I'll help you out with your financial problems, only if you become my bride." Out of desperation, she had no other option. In the end, all she needed to say was, "I do."

13. Director's Reunion

“What?” Gabe was standing behind me and grabbing onto the hem of my shirt. Harry must've been surprised to see Gabe, only because this was the first time he has seen me with kids.

“Who’s this little fellow over here?” he knelt down beside Gabe. Surprisingly, he wasn’t afraid. I remembered the fear in his eyes when I found him by the playground the other day. However, now it’s gone.

“Gabe.” he answered.

I’m not sure what surprised Harry even more because his eyes widened the moment Gabe told him his name. Curiosity overwhelmed me, so I had to ask, “What’s up? What’s with that look?”

Instead of blurting out the details I needed to hear, Harry motioned us to take a seat. I had my arms crossed across my chest – feeling a bit impatient – but obediently, I took a seat. We ordered a couple of drinks and for Gabe, well, he ordered a lot. Frankly, it was my fault. I should have prepared breakfast, or else he wouldn't have been so hungry. Gabe’s mouth was stuffed and without hesitating; he reached for another piece of biscuit. He doesn't seem to be aware of our conversation, or our presence now. His grumbling stomach seems to matter more at this moment.

“Did you even feed this kid?”

“Of course I did” I replied. Taking another sip of my coffee, I mumbled to myself, “People should consider having chocolate for breakfast.”

“You gave him chocolate for breakfast?” he bursts. Oh crap, didn't think he could hear that one. A smile stretches along his lips, another hint of mockery detected.

“Didn't ask him to”

Suddenly, Harry leaned closer to my ear, so close that I could hear his soft breaths. “You found the Director’s son,” was all he said before pulling away.

What?” I mouthed. A Director’s son? A pretty logical explanation, really. When I found Gabe, he was dressed so neatly that it was pretty obvious he wasn't from an ordinary family. Anyone would've noticed and lucky for him, I found him sooner. Or else, someone else might’ve kidnapped him for ransom money.

“So, you know where his parents are?” I asked. Harry nodded. The word “parents” seemed to attract Gabe’s attention.

I was as excited as he was. “Yes, we’ve found your mommy,” I told him. Gabe was smiling now and his has the brightest smile I’ve ever seen. To be reunited again with the ones we love is a feeling quite unexplainable and even words can’t describe.

I remembered when I was six; Dad and I prepared a lovely “Welcome Back” party for Mom. She was away for a whole month for another fashion couture in Paris. We baked our own cake and decorated the whole living room with sparkly ornaments. Bright colours showered the walls and floors along with the garnishes. We knew she’d love it because we loved it and there wasn't a reason for her not to.

We waited eagerly for her return that night. Hours passed and we got hungry. So, we ate the cherries on top of the cake. I decided to do some activities to keep myself awake, like, wandering around the living room or watch television. Even rolling on the floor. Around 3 a.m, I heard the door opened. I ran towards the door - towards the silhouette, that I’m sure was my Mom and gave her a big hug. I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her ever so tightly. Sure enough she was surprised.

“Why are you still awake at this hour?” she asked, her voice stern. She didn’t like it when I wasn’t asleep by 10.

“Mom, we made you a cake” I said. Pulling her inside, I showed her the “newly-improved” living room. She was amazed and lost beyond words. Dad appeared from the kitchen holding a few plates in his hands. “Welcome back, honey” he walked towards her and gave her a quick kiss. “This was all Keira’s idea,” dad winked at me.

“This was our idea,” I corrected. Dad laughed and began cutting the cake. “Hope you like vanilla because we ran out of coco powder.”

“Vanilla’s fine,” mom replied. She took a bite of the cake and said, “Wow, this is absolutely delicious. The best cake I’ve ever had in my whole life.”

“Thanks to this little chef here,” Dad picked me up and placed me on top of his lap. I giggled, feeling proud with my success.

“Thank you, Keira.” Mom kissed my forehead and Dad did the same.

It was a reunion I couldn't possibly forget.

We arrived at the entrance, where we were greeted by almost a million people. We were surrounded by a huge crowd and the swarm of people around us were making it difficult for us to proceed. Luckily, we had bodyguards. Gabe was hiding under Harry’s coat. He was almost invisible to the public eye. We wouldn’t want to risk losing him in the crowd, so Harry kept him close. As soon as we entered the building, we made our way to Harry’s office.

From there, we headed towards the Discussion Room next.

Everyone inside turned their heads towards us, their eyes wide in surprise. It wasn’t polite to barge into an important meeting but if it was Harry, I’m guessing neither of them bothered. The Director was there too.

I could see it from her eyes; deep sadness. Losing a precious jewel wouldn’t be a big deal for her, I presume. Before we could’ve explain our sudden appearance, Gabe ran out from behind. His eyes were fixed on his mom.

The Director stood up, “..Gabe? Is that you, my dear?”

He ran towards her for a hug. The Director’s eyes glistened with tears as she lifts her beloved son and wrapped him lovingly in her arms. “I will never ever leave you out from my sight ever again.

Everyone in the room was moved to see such a beautiful scene. Some even shred tears.

So did I.

Somehow, it reminded me of my own little scenario. I used to hug my parents a lot. A whole lot. I enjoyed the affectionate embrace. I still do actually.

There was only one problem though; they’re no longer here.
