How sweet the Taste

With a world full of mysteries, secrets and lies, how certain are you that you aren't apart of something beautifully dangerous? Something incredibly supernatural? Anna was fairly certain from a young age that something just wasn't right.

8. Unexpected Dinner Buddie

The rest of the day went by in a blur. I mean literally, i barely remember the five minute conversation i had with Louis before i headed home. I pulled into my driveway and shut off my truck, staring at my house. It was cute. Something seemed a little out of place though. Something was different, changed. I couldn’t tell if it was for the good or bad. I shook it off. It’s just me getting paranoid. I got out of my truck, locking the doors before unlocking my front door and walking in
My homework was done two hours later and i’m bored out of my mind. I’ve seen everything that’s playing on the t.v. and my movies are limited to two or three. I’m usually not at home this much. I need to go grocery shopping anyway, i’ll just pick up some more stuff for the house on the way out. Grabbing my black knit beanie, my wallet and keys and i was back out my door.
I finally found a little cluster of stores, basically consisting of everything i needed. I bought some warmer clothes, glad that they actually looked pretty damn cute. I managed to get seven new movies, all being either scary or a comedy. I refuse to get sappy love stories. Just not my thing. I also bought two rugs for the house, a bedside table and lamp that match my room decor and a couple of more plates. I think i did pretty good. After placing all of that in the truck and re-locking the doors i went to the market.
It turned out to be a quick trip, everything i needed was almost side by side or on the next isle over. I managed to get two boxes of pop tarts, two things of three different types of meats, some canned veggies and even some Snickers ice cream. I think i did pretty good, all in all. I paid for my food and shuffled the bags outside, placing them in the front seat in the floor board. I got in my truck, happy and ready to go home.
I was on my second trip back to the truck when i sensed it. Someone was in my house. I grabbed a large kitchen knife from the drawer beside me, leaving it open so it wouldn’t squeak and give me away. I tiptoed through the kitchen, towards the front hallway. All clear. I eased into the hallway, glancing behind me every few seconds to make sure nobody comes at me from behind. I made my way slowly to the living room, peeking in to find it empty. Was i just imagining things again? I sighed and walked into my living room, turning on the radio to ease my nerves. I turned around and screamed, the knife coming up above my head and brought down, aiming for the shoulder.
“Whoa! Easy now!” He yelled, his hand catching my wrist just in time. The blade was quickly taken from my grip and tossed aside.
“What the hell are you doing in my house?!” I yell, still a little freaked out that he appeared out of no where. A lot of people seem to do that around here.
“I was walking by and i saw you walking inside so i thought i’d stop and say hi. But,damn, if i knew i would almost be stabbed i would have just waited outside.” Louis said, laughing at me. I frowned, giving him a push.
“It’s not funny. You scared the hell outa me.” I said, walking past him to get the last few things from the truck. He followed me out, looking around the house.
“Nice place. I love the red and tan mix you got going on. It looks good.” He commented, nodding his head. I grinned.
“Thanks. Though of it all on my own.” I said, grabbing the carpets and the bag of movies. Louis grabbed the bags of clothes, making a comment about how girls can never have enough clothes apparently. I agreed, laughing at him.
“Where do you want me to put these?” Louis asked, his arms full of bags as he looked around my living room.
“Um... You can put them in my room. Go up those stairs and it’s the last door on the right. Just set them somewhere in there.” I said, placing the movies on the couch and positioning the rugs where i imagined them going. He nodded and bounded up the stairs loudly. I sighed and shook my head. Once the movies were placed in alphabetical order i noticed that Louis hadn’t came down yet.
“Louis? Where are you?” i asked, thinking maybe he was raiding my fridge. The kitchen was clear. He must still be in my bedroom. I took the stairs by twos, humming a random song. He better not be going through my panty drawer. I busted through my closed door to fins Louis stepping out of my closet, looking into it. The bags were by his feet but they was crumpled up and empty.
“Louis?” I asked, a questioning look taking over my face. He jumped a little looking at me in surprise.
“Oh, i didn’t hear you come in. I took the liberty to put all your clothes up. I hope i did it right.” He said, motioning me ot come over. I expected him to have it all wrong but he had everything in the right places. I nodded my head approvingly.
“Ya did good, Lou.” I said, closing my closet doors. I yawned and my stomach growled at me.
“You hungry?” I asked, turning to head back down stairs. I closed the door behind us, following the boy downstairs.
“Yeah, you wanna go eat somewhere?” He asked, his eyes brightening a little. I shook my head at him.
“Nah. I’m to tired to go out. I can cook something.” I said, heading towards the kitchen.
“Alright, sounds good. What are we cooking?” He asked, rubbing his hands together as he grinned.
“Hmm... We can make some crispy chicken and ranch wraps.” I said, heading towards the fridge. I pulled the boneless chicken and everything i needed.
Ten minutes later Louis was dancing around my kitchen with the radio blaring as he floured the strips of chicken before handing them to me so i could place them in the pan. Another ten minutes later we was putting in the last two pieces of chicken, preparing our tortillas. Lettuce was cut into strips as well, making it easier to wrap as we placed our chicken inside and doused them in ranch dressing. I poured us each a glass of milk and i followed Lou into my living room. The t.v. was on a the main menu of a scary movie was playing on the screen.
“I hope you don’t mind my snooping through your movies. I thought it would be okay to watch one while we ate.” Louis said, claiming one corner of the couch as i took over the other.
“Nah, it’s all good. I’m glad you did.” I said, hitting play before taking a bite of my food. They. Turned. Out. FAAABUULOOOUUUSS!
