How sweet the Taste

With a world full of mysteries, secrets and lies, how certain are you that you aren't apart of something beautifully dangerous? Something incredibly supernatural? Anna was fairly certain from a young age that something just wasn't right.

32. The Capture

Niall stood in front of me now, his face blank as he stares down at me through empty eyes. This can not end good, on my part at least. I blink and my throat is gripped tightly, my feet slowly being lifted off of the ground. I grab his arm tightly, trying to pry his fingers loose from my neck. My eyes soon felt like they were about to pop out of my head and my lungs felt like they were about to explode of the lack of oxygen.

“I told you if you obeyed, you wouldn’t get hurt. Now look at what you are making me do. I hate hurting people but in order to survive I have to. I also hate people who don’t follow directions. If you don’t do as I say, I have to punish you. Discipline is key and in order to have that, strict rules are to be followed. Do you understand?” Niall asked, staring up at me as he now had me above his head.

I tried to breath in only for the grip on my throat to tighten. I felt like I was about to pass out. I scratched at his hand, anger building up inside of me. I hate him. I hate Niall with a red hot, fiery passion. He will be lucky if I don’t slit his throat while he sleeps. If I make it out of this. I closed my eyes, trying to concentrate. Maybe I can remember some pressure points or something that could help.

Instead, all I could think about was how bad I wanted to rip Niall’s head off of his shoulders. On how I wanted to take a knife and slowly dismember him as he is chained down to an operating table. I bet he has never had to fear anything in his supernatural life. He has never had to deal with anything he couldn’t handle. I want to be that one thing that this blonde vampire was completely terrified of.

The more I thought about it, the angrier I got. Pure hate raged inside my small body, giving me the strength I needed. My eyes flashed open as I got a strong hold on Niall’s wrist. The boys eyes went wide in surprise, his jaw dropping. I placed my thumb in the middle of his wrist and pressed as hard as I could, making him let go. I dropped to my feet and rolled away from him as I hit the ground, rubbing at my neck. I gasped for the clean, wonder air that had now refilled my lungs. My head was pounding and my throat hurt.

“What the hell was that?” Niall asked, his own body gasping for air. Why was he so out of breath?

“I wanted you to let me go and I managed to find away. It hurts, doesn’t it?” I ask in between deep breaths.

“No, not that. That didn’t hurt. I meant the other thing.” Niall said, pacing back and forth in front of me has he spoke, his eyes never leaving me.

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” I say, sitting up.

“Your eyes. What happened with your eyes?” He asked, stopping in front of me.

“My eyes? What happened with my eyes?” I countered, raising my eyebrows at him. What’s his deal? A few seconds ago he wanted to kill me and now he’s questioning me about my eyes?

“They changed. It wasn’t red like vampire and it wasn’t a white-ish blue color like a werewolf. It was orange-ish gold. What the hell are you?” Niall asked, placing his hands on his hips as he stared down at me in confusion.

“I’m human.” I say back, standing up. I lean against the wall for support, still not completely refreshed.

“Human is not what I just saw. What are you hiding?” Niall said, crossing his arms over his chest as he glared down at me.

“I’m not hiding anything.” I answer, standing up now.

“Tell me what you are keeping from us.” Niall said, his voice a little louder.

“I’ve done told you that I’m not hiding anything from you.” I say, crossing my own arms over my chest.

“Stop lying and tell me what you are hiding from me!” He yells, stepping forward to get in my face as I back into the wall behind me.

“I’m not lying!” I yell back, shoving him out of my bubble as a fierce growl we made.

Niall flew across the hallway, slamming into the wall opposite from me. My jaw drops as he finally hits the floor with a thud. I wanted to rush over and check on him but the stronger side of me said that he deserved it for yelling at me.

“Ha, really? You’re not hiding anything?” He asked, a unamused chuckle coming from him as he rolled onto his back.

“I’m not hiding anything. I don’t know how that happened.” I say honestly, looking at my hands. There’s no way that I did that. There’s no way that I made a vampire fly across the room from a shove that wasn’t even supposed to be able to make him budge an inch. Niall stood with a groan, shaking off anything pain he might have received.

“I don’t believe you.” Niall said simply, eyeing my small frame.

“Then I don’t know what to tell you.” I reply, getting tired of talking to him.

“Is that all you got?” Niall asked.

“What? What do you mean?” I asked, stepping back away from him to inspect him.

“I mean, is that the best you can do?” He asked, lacing his fingers together before popping them before popping his neck.

“I’m not doing this with you.” I say, turning to walk away from him.

“Oh, but you are.” Niall said sternly from behind me.

What happened next, I really can’t explain. I don’t know how I knew but I did. Something sent a chill up my spine and I did the impossible. It was something new, something unnatural about it. Something I wasn’t used to. Something that I’ve never had before.

I felt his movements before he even carried them out. I could feel him crouching down behind me. I could feel the pressure and strength he put into the jump. I felt the air stiffen as he made his move. I sensed every movement he made. I could feel his lips pulling back from his teeth, baring his fangs at me.

I whirled around, grabbing him out of mid jump. My fingers locked tightly around his wrist, twisting it. I stepped aside, watching his body follow the path I had created for it to go. His back slammed into the floor, a pain filled expression controlling his face.

I could hear the breath as it whooshed out of his lungs when he hit. I didn’t waist any time dropping down, my knee slamming into his chest while my little fingers grip his throat. Another threatening growl was made but this time it confused me. Niall stared wide eyed up at me, a shocked look on his face. His mouth hadn’t moved other than to gasp for air, much less growl at me. Was that me?

“That’s a very scary roar you got there.” Niall said after a few silent seconds. I tighten my grip, remembering how he was throwing me around just minutes ago.

“What’s going on here?” A familiar voice asked from behind me, making me quickly turn around.
