Like children * Complete *

We all made choices we regret; choices that tear us apart. We deplore them so much we wish we could start all over again.
But even with a second chance, can what has been broken be fixed?

1. Prologue

"The tender friendship one gives up, on parting, leave their bite on the heart, but also a curious feeling of a treasure somewhere buried."

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

"Niall, can I tell you something?"

The little girl takes the hand of the boy sitting next to her in hers. He looks up at her and smile widely,

"Of course you can, I'm your best friend!" The eyes of the girl light up.

"Last night I saw a shooting star and I made a wish," she starts to say but he interrupts her, "Don't tell me what your wish is! If you do, it won't work!" She stares at him a short while, smiling weakly, before carrying on, "I won't tell you. I just want you to promise me something; if you do, half my wish will come true."

"Okay!" He nods and squeezes her hand in his.

"I want you to promise you will always be my best friend," she says with a serious look.

"I promise I will always be your best friend, Eileen."

She giggles and gives him a kiss on his cheek.
