In your memory

1. In your memory

If I'd have known this was the end

I would've wished the sun never set.

An existence in limbo with no progress,

Yet for your presence I had no regret.

I want to place my hand in yours,

I miss you more than life or breath.

This emptiness in your absence is,

Without a doubt, worse than death.

I never doubted this possibility,

Yet I was still shocked at it's arrival.

This reality of grief and loss,

I find no meaning in survival.

I had joined my soul to yours,

So now a piece of me has died too.

All of our memories now lay broken,

Yet all my thoughts guide me to you.

I wish to join you in the dirt,

Yet you were never there to begin.

What has died is not the present,

But the future.
