Beautiful Storm

National Poetry Day: WATER

1. Beautiful Storm

A settling drop

with a smooth glide,

falling from peace

landing with pride.

Warm blood

and a cold heart,

shivering gone

when it fell at dawn.

The winged fly away,

but some stay near,

usually the darker side

who live their fear.

As it begins to fall

the clouds roll in,

the sky gets dull

and the rain settles in.

Murky puddles

begin to form,

as the streets drown

from the beautiful storm.

The water rushes

flowing gently beneath,

washing away

what lies underneath.

The drops continue

through a wrinkle in time,

with every second ticking by

a less living lifetime.
