The Elm

1. The Elm.

All mighty and tall, there she stood.

The perfect picture of solitude.

Alone, she has been through it all,

In the dark times, she didn't take the fall.

Be it rain, disease or storm,

She stood still, didn't lose her form.

This old Elm has been here,

Nearly for a thousand years.

Like this Elm, I've too been hurt.

I've also been pushed in dirt.

Life has given me a lot of blows,

But I will hold on, take it slow.

Plaster a grin on my face,

A real one, not a fake.

Like the Elm I will stand tall,

Not even in my darkest times will I take the fall.
