 6th of May, 1891

Tonight I received a telegram: I was overjoyed to see it was from them, for I had already started to worry having not received news from Switzerland for some time. But when I, before reading it fully, glanced at the last line, my heart stopped beating for a second. Because usually, their names were at the end of their telegrams. Usually there were two initials: "S.H." and "J.W." But this time, the "S.H." was missing.
My mind started to produce the most obscure theories why Holmes didn't sign the message. The piece of paper in my hand
was shaking due to my anxiety. My mind made up more and more theories, and the only way I could find out what happened was to read the telegram. I took a breath and started to run my eyes over the lines. It was quite short, but it left me shaking in my boots.

"its over. going back as soon as possible. j.w."

The few words seemed to bear in them that my biggest fear was coming true. I sank into an armchair, and closed my eyes for a while. I can't recall how long I've been sitting there, motionless and my feet drained of all their strength. Slowly, pictures started to build up: Their departure. How pale Holmes looked. How sorry Watson said he was to leave me in London all alone. I clenched my fists wishing all worst things for this Professor Moriarty that Holmes had been talking about. If anything had happened...

Suddenly I felt something wet being absorbed by my dress, and a second later I found myself sobbing helplessly. There was still a spark of hope, anyway. I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand. Wouldn't the doctor have mentioned it if anything was wrong with Holmes? "There is no reason for tears, until I am completely sure what is going on..." I told myself. I
just hope that my premonition is wrong...
