4. Chapter 3

'Liam! Uncle Liam!' I thought right after he closed the door.

"It can't be!" I said aloud, but it had to be. I remembered his face now. It was him.

For hours, it felt like, I thought everything over. How Shadow Keeper couldn't be Uncle Liam, how I could get out, and all the while wondering who I really am.

I almost forgot where I was, until the large, metal door swung open. 'This is it...It's over after this...' I thought. But I was wrong. It wasn't Uncle Liam or any of his vampire friends. It was a boy, around my age, or older, who walked in. He was a vampire, but something about him wasn't so dark as all the others.

I looked at him, who scurried closer to me.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"My name's Artemis, but you can call me Aaron..." he said quickly, walking behind me.

"Well, Aaron, what the hell do you want?" I said, angrily.

He pulled out and knife, and drew it closer to me. I almost screamed, but wasn't afraid.

Then he cut  the ropes holding my wrists and ankles together. I got up quickly, rubbing the cuts on my body from the ropes.

"You're welcome..." Aaron said.

I had almost forgotten he was there, and my instincts kicked in. I whirled around and punched him in the face. He fell back immediately.

"I'm so sorry!" I said quickly, because he did help me. I realized then how I must hate vampires so much, I don't even realize how good they might be. Like my dad. And yet, somehow I trust this Aaron guy. It must be in my blood. Maybe I really am a vampire hunter!

"It's ok..." Aaron said, getting up.

I grabbed his hand and helped pull him up. His ice cold hand.

"We better go...my dad will be coming to get you any minute!" Aaron said, grabbing my hand, and pulling me towards the door.

"Dad?" I asked, stopping.

"Yea, Shadow Keeper's my dad." Aaron said, ashamed.

I wriggled out of his grip. "What! Get away form me! How can I trust you!" I yelled.

"Shhh! You can trust me, we can need to get out of here!" Aaron said, pulling me out.

I didn't know what to do. If he is Liam's son, then how come I didn't know about him? And I'm getting sick of this Shadow Keeper.

I followed him out the door. There was a long , dark hallway with no windows leading up to a staircase.

We ran down it, hand in hand, which was awkward for me, but I didn't complain. Other than him being a vampire, he wasn't that bad looking. In fact, he was actually really hot, but I've never had luck with boys.

We got to the staircase, when I remembered Dad.

"Wait!" I stopped, "What about my dad?"

"We don't have time!" Aaron said.

I stood my ground. "I'm not leaving without my dad!" I said.

Aaron grabbed my waist, and picking me up. He ran up the stairs, while I kicked and squirmed.

Up the stairs was an elevator. I went quiet as two guards stood by it. Aaron put me down as the guards came toward us. I closed my eyes for a second, and opened them. The guards were on the ground. Aaron picked me back up, and we went up the elevator.

I just then realized we were underground. "Why are you helping me?" I asked.

"My dad's wrong! He shouldn't kill you! I had to save you!" Aaron said, his red eyes staring into mine.

"What's so special about me?" I asked.

"You're vampire, and hunter! The only one. You could kill all of us!" Aaron said.

"Then why are you HELPING me!" I yelled.

"Because I don't think you deserve to die, and you're our ticket out of here. You've got so much you don't know about yourself! I want to show you..."

I was quiet. He was right. I don't know myself anymore.

The elevator stopped, and the doors opened. Vampires were everywhere. Aaron cut his arm, and  smeared the blood on me.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"We can't smell you if you smell like us..."Aaron said.

Right behind him, we walked out slowly. The door was right there. Our exit ticket.

"Stop!" Liam screamed. Aaron stopped.

"What are you doing with Camille?" Liam asked.

"I'm...um...taking her to another chamber..." Aaron lied.

"No, you're not! You're letting her escape!" Right when Liam said that, all his vampire friends, r whatever, came straight toward us.

My pulse started to raise, and I think my eyes turned red as some of Aaron's blood got in my mouth. Blood. It taste good...It tasted good! No! I can't say that! But it did...and that's what scared me.

Something overtook me then, and I don't remember anything that happened that night. All I remember is wanting more, and someone shouting, "It's come. She's turned!" Then Aaron dragging me out, and then....this desert. My thoughts were clouded. Wherever I was...whatever I was...I wasn't me anymore...
