14. Chapter 12

Rylie had been out for at least 3 hours. We had dragged her inside to the interrogation room (Yes, Harry has and interrogation room! He's a werewolf and he's super rich. What would you expect?). Anyway, everyone waited in the hall for Rylie to come back to consciousness. Harry was freaking out, mumbling about crazy things that no one paid attention too. An uneasiness filled the air, and frankly, I couldn't see why! What was the big deal about taking a needy girl in. In fact, we might be able to get some information out of her.

Aaron sat beside me, secretly holding my hand. Even though I wasn't freaking out, something felt weird.

A hour turned into 2 hours, and we still all filled the hallway, not speaking, not breathing; too heavily, that is. I began to give way due to boredom, and found myself getting up, pushing the doors open, and kicking Rylie awake. Rylie shot up like a light.

"What'd you do that for?" she yelled, fangs protruding from her mouth. She was a vampire.

I suddenly became tired and walked out of the room. Ok, to tell the truth, the woman made me feel uneasy. I don't know why, but she creeped me out.

As I slid my back down the wall, I could hear Aaron's muffled voice. "Who are you?" he asked, calmly.

"Who wants to know?" Rylie smirked.

"Tell us or you leave!" Harry yelled.

"So much for the hospitality!" Rylie sarcastically spoke. Then she let out a deep groan as she tried to pull an arrow from her side.

"We'll fix you up if you tell who you are and why you chose our house to pass out at." Aaron said.

Suddenly, the little humor in Rylie's tone vanished. Her face became solemn. "They're after me!" she cried.

"Who?" Harry screamed.

"Liam! And all his helpers!"

"Why?" Aaron asked. That was the same question I was thinking too. "Who are you?"

Eventually, I got up, and walked into the room. I tossed my hair to the side, and looked dead at Rylie. "Yea, who are you?"

Rylie looked up at me for the first time, and a smile; a real smile crept upon her face. "Serena!" she yelled out in relief.

Everyone looked at me.

Harry grew anger and slammed Rylie's head on the chair. "How do you know Serena?" he screamed.

I had only two questions in my mind. Did I really look that much like my mother? Also, what was the big deal about Rylie knowing her. I mean I'm sure they ran into each other a long time ago, when my mother was a vampire slayer. But why would that make someone happy?

Harry's screams jolted me back to reality. "Answer me, how do you know her?"

Harry still had her throat in his hand, and I could see Rylie choking. "Uncle Harry, she can't talk!" I pointed out.

Harry quickly let go, and Rylie sat upright, coughing up blood. When she was finally able to speak, the words for not pretty.

"I'm not Serena," I spoke up, "I'm her daughter, and I'm sorry for the treatment you've received, but just please tell me how you know my mother." I tried to sound calm but was screaming inside.

"Because.." Rylie began, "She was my best friend..." and another smile crept upon her face.
