When We Run

Your life can change in a heartbeat.
I walked downstairs and when I came back, everyone was dead and everything was over. But I survived and I ran.

36. 36.

It's quite a chilled evening. Evan sits with Sam and Jason and they're all talking about some video game, Rose is cooking in the kitchen with Jane, Keira and my mom are talking about hair styles as Keira tries them out on my mom's hair and I am sat by myself on the couch, reading a book. It's not a bad thing, I'm enjoying just sitting by myself for a while. It's nice to see Evan actually having guy time too, I have a feeling he needed it.

"So." I hear Jake say as he sits down next to me. I sigh, shutting my book. I look at him and he's doing that arrogant little smirk. "You and your boyfriend."

"Evan." I say. "Yes."

"Have you two... you know... had special alone time? You know... like how babies are made." he says, hinting.

I frown. "Do you seriously think we've had the chance or privacy to?"

Jake laughs but still quite arrogantly. "True, true. Well, if you're not that committed, you and I could go off to your bedroom and have special alone time, I'm sure nobody would notice-"

"Oh shut up." I shake my head and walk away. I know he's not seriously asking and that he's just messing around, but it's so immature and annoying.

"Is there a problem, Jake?" Evan calls across the room, welcoming me into his lap and kissing my cheek.

"Not at all, Edward." Jake smiles, kicking back on the sofa.

"It's Evan." Evan says.

"Sure it is." Jake closes his eyes and folds his arms behind his head, in total relaxation.

"I hate him." I mutter to Evan for just him and I to here, while Sam and Jason are engrossed in a conversation about science.

"Me too." Evan murmurs back, kissing my cheek.
