20. What Abby Forgot

                                                                  Chapter 20

'How dare you Abby! How dare you! You tell me your going to the toilet and what happens? You leave me. I waited twenty whole minutes Abby and in the end I couldn't take it. I went into the restaurant and I went into the ladies toilets! Yes, the ladies toilet! I do it because I'm worried about you! Only one stall is taken, so I think that's you and I bang hard on the door, yelling at you to hurry up and get out. And who opens the stall door? A frail old lady that's who! She then thumps me hard in the stomach with her handbag and storms out. So now I'm panicking, I don't know where you are. So I am just about to phone the police when I receive a phone call saying you were in the back of an ambulance with a dead boy who had just been hit by a car. They tell me to come to the hospital and pick you up. So now I think your hurt. I jump in the car, drive down to the hospital to discover you ran away to find Jamie! It killed me that did, the fact you lied to me! The fact you never got over he was gone and I told you to get over, but you decided the best thing to do was to hurt me, huh? Make me think you were kidnapped or stolen or injured, hey? Well, young lady you are grounded for two months AND now Jamie's dead. Because of YOU.' Her Dad was fuming so badly, Abby swore she could see great puffs of black smoke wafting out his ears. His lasts words stung her and she hung her head in shame. She had forgotten about her Dad.

'I'm sorry.'

'Sorry's not good enough! You can sorry but it won't mean anything. It's a word, words don't fix problems. Actions do.' For the rest of the journey her Dad ranted and shouted, hurtling insults at Abby. They didn't affect her, she was still to stunned. She had killed Jamie. She was the reason why Jamie was dead.
