The new guy

"Oh that guy? He’s new. He hasn’t talked to anyone since he got here. Guess he’s shy. Oh shit he’s looking turn around." "You know what I heard? That he’s crazy. People say he talks to himself." "Maybe he’s not that bad you guys. I’m going to go talk to him." … "Hi, I’m Katie." He gave me a smile that sent shivers through my body. "Hi, I’m Harry"

4. Chapter 3

"What the hell do you think this? I never gave you permission to talk to that freak!"
Zac took my arm and pulled me to an empty hallway. His grasp was very tight and was starting to sting.
"What are you talking about?!?! Let go Zac its starting to hurt!!!"
"Not until you tell me what the fuck you said to him!"
"Said what to who?!?!"
"The new bitch with the gay curls! And don’t lie! Lydia told me!!!"
Harry. I couldn’t control my anger anymore.
He pushed me against the wall, hard enough to probably leave a bruise on my arm. I sunk to the ground, crying.
He got closer and I couldn’t help but flinch. He whispered in my ear.
"And if I EVER see you talking to him again….. you’ll regret it."
He walked back down the hallway.
I got up and ran as fast as I could. I knew where I was going. My tree. As a child, my Mother would take me to a specific tree and we would sit there for hours watching the birds and the sky. Unfortunately, my mother passed away 2 years ago from breast cancer.
I found our tree and sat down.
I whispered, “I wish you were still here.”
My mom would have known the exact things to say. She would comfort me until I was better. All the memories came back and I started crying again.
I hugged my knees to my stomache and rested my face on them to hide my face.
I heard some footsteps get closer than stop. The person sat next to me in silence for a while.
"I come here every afternoon. I like looking at the clouds and all of the different people walking by," British accent, "Everyday its different. Different people. Mums and their kids, young couples, people stressed about everything," where was he going with this? "But the best people? The ones who take time to stop and notice the beauty in all of it. From the biggest skyscraper," He gently cupped my chin and made me look up, "to the smallest butterfly."
He was holding a colorful butterfly on his right index finger. He gracefully let it fly away , staring at it for a moment and then looking back at me.
"Whats wrong love?"
I didn’t know if I should tell him. I barely knew him, but I really needed to talk to someone about it.
"Zac hes… hes just being over protective."
"Ahh, a jealous boyfriend?"
"Not jealous…just protective."
"I see, but do you want a boyfriend or a brother?"
"Hes just trying to be a good boyfriend."
"Are you sure? Because if I was in his position, I would NEVER make you cry."
My cheeks got really hot. I tryed to look away but he gently pulled my chin towards him.
"Love, if hes not treating you right, why stay with him?"
He was right. I didn’t know what to say back.
"I should go home."
"I’ll walk you."
That was a bad idea, if Zac or Lydia saw us, something could go wrong.
"No its okay. Don’t want to trouble you."
"No, no trouble at all, its ok."
On the way home, we talked about school and old lives.
Apparently, he was 18. He said he started high school late because of him being in jail for a while. So that’s why he was a junior instead of him being in college already.
Harry was basically a bad ass, straight up and down. He had a bunch of tattoos, hes been in jail multiple times for stealing and for using drugs. Hes gone from school to school from being expelled a lot.
Something about it was like I always described him. Attractive yet scary.
By the time we got to my house, I knew almost everything about him. I didn’t talk about myself, I was just interested in him.
"Well this is my house. Thanks Harry for walking me."
"No problem."
"Are you going to the game on Friday?"
"I might drop by."
"Well let me know so I can say hi."
He looked at the ground and smiled at it a bit. My heart raced faster.
"I’ll text you."
And with that he left.
Why was he so damn se-umm nothing.

"You have the poster right Katie?"
That was the hundredth time she’d ask me.
"YES Lydia, its right here!"
I held up to her and handed it to her.
"Attitude much?"
I brushed her comment off.
It was the first football game of the season. It was a pretty big deal because it showed whether the school had potential or not.
We usually did. Not to brag, but we had good players.
I took my phone out and checked it again.
5:50 Nothing.
"Jesus girl, why do you keep checking your phone?" Angela noted.
"Nothing, just checking on how long until the game."
10 minutes ‘till the game and he still wasn’t here.
Harry and I had been texting non stop since Tuesday after he walked me home. I was expecting him to be here. I actually was looking forward to it, but I guess he wasn’t going to show up.
We took our seats on the bleachers and waited for the game to start.
He still wasn’t here.
Our team was winning, as usual. 40-30 .
My phone vibrated.
From Harry: Meet me at the parking lot xx
"I’ll be back, I have to get something out of the car."
"Okay hurry."
I walked quickly towards the parking lot. My stomache was in knots and I was excited to see him.
Why was I so excited? It was just Harry.
I could see him leaning against my car on his phone.
I cleared my throat and he turned around. He had a grin on his face.
"Hey Love."
He stepped closer to me. My heart was racing.
"Hey Haz"
"Sorry for being late. Had a little problem."
"You alright ?"
"Yep. Look I can’t stay, but I really want to hang out with you another day. Maybe you can come over to my house?"
His house. Just the two of us.
"Sure , why not."
"Alright, tomorrow maybe?"
"Okay, I’ll pick you up around 4."
He stepped close to me and kissed me on the cheek. I smiled up at him and he left.
I felt so happy ! I couldn’t stop smiling. My stomache felt weird and my heart was going a million miles an hour.
I think I might like him…
