Darcy’s POV

I’ve been exercising, practicing for the play and my recital every day.  I don’t know how I’m doing it all, but I am. I’ve actually lost 5 pounds. It isn’t much and I don’t think I look any different.

I stood in front of my full length mirror, staring at my body in hatred. Why won’t it be what I want it to be? I know that doesn’t make sense but I need to lose at least 10 more pounds.

“Honey, Harry’s downstairs.” My father said threw my bathroom door. I almost jumped to the ceiling from his voice.

“O-okay, I’ll be there in a minute.” I yelled.

I quickly slipped my clothes back on and hurried downstairs to meet Harry.

“Hey babe.” Harry pulled my body against his in a hug. I groan as he squeezed me tight.

“You alright?” He asked his eyes locked with my tired ones.

“Of course, why wouldn’t I be?” I smiled weakly as I said bye to my father. I pulled Harry out of my house and to his car.

“So how are the lines for the play coming along?” He spoke as his buckled himself in.

I shrugged. “Meh, alright I guess. What about you. How’s it like to be Romeo?” I giggled. Harry laughed as he drove closer to the school.

“You know I’m going to have a great time being Romeo. Especially when I get to kiss you.” He winked at me before pulling into a parking space.

“Of course you’re going to like that.” I rolled my eyes playfully.

“Come on, we’re already late. Liam said the teachers freaking out.” Harry spoke as he looked down at his phone. He grabbed my hand before pulling me through the school.

“Finally, you two have arrived.” The director growled. We took our seats beside the boys while they laughed at us.

“Alright, enough with the games. Let’s start our first practice.”

Everyone got a script and they started to read out the lines from the book. Harry was Romeo and I was Juliet so we stood in the middle. Beside me was Liam, he was Friar Lawrence. Beside Harry was Louis and he played Romeo’s best friend, Mercutio. The Nurse was Samantha and beside her was Niall playing Tybalt. Zayn played Paris, the boy I’m supposed to get married too. Harry looked a little frustrated which only made me giggle.

“Alright, and the last part, the part of Rosaline, goes to Marley.”

I knitted my eyebrows together as I watched Marley walk in with a smirk on her face.

“It’s okay, she can’t hurt you.” Harry whispered softly in my ear. “I’m here, okay.” He pressed a firm kiss to my head before turning back to the class.

I looked down at my book a furrowed my eyebrows again.

“Um, excuse me, this isn’t Romeo and Juliet, well at least the original one.” I asked.

“Ah, yes this isn’t the original Shakespeare play. It’s one based off it, but with a modern twist.”

I let out a sigh as I flipped through the pages. My eyes landed on the parts with Romeo chasing after Rosaline pleading for her to stay.

I let out a groan before taking a seat in the crowd.

“Please, I’ll do anything to be with you, oh Rosaline. You mean so much to me.”

Romeo pulled Rosaline in by her waist. She stared deep into her eyes and for a brief moment she looked like she would stay.

“I’m sorry, I can’t be with you. You must understand.”

Harry looked down at his script and took a deep breath. We all knew it was coming.

“Fine, then kiss me once more before you leave me forever.”

Rosaline grabbed the sides of Romeo’s face and pressed her lips firmly onto his.

“Goodbye, Romeo.”

I stared in disbelief at what just happened. Harry pulled away from Marley and stared down on me. He whispered ‘I love you’ but I couldn’t focus on that when their kiss was etched in my mind.

“Wonderful you two. We’ll pick up on this tomorrow.” After the teacher was done talking, I bolted out of the theater. I could feel my stomach start to ached so I found the nearest garbage can.

“Darcy, I’m sorry.” Harry spoke from behind me. I sat up and wiped my mouth with my sleeve. I turned around to see tears in his green eyes. Zayn, Louis, Liam, and Niall stood close behind this sad looks on their faces. Marley walked out with an evil smirk on her face.

“I-It’s fine, you were just acting, right?”

Harry’s POV

“I-It’s fine, you were just acting, right?”

I took a deep breath and nodded. I hope for our sake that I was just acting because I can’t lose her again. I’ve messed up so many times that I know she won’t give me another chance.

“See you tomorrow Harry.” I turned to see Marley. She smirked and gave her a small wave.

“Harry, what the fuck?” Louis barked. I turned back to Darcy to see she had tears falling from her eyes. Zayn pulled her into a hug and walked down the hall away from me taking my heart with her.

“I’m sorry; I don’t know that the fuck is wrong with me.”

Darcy’s POV

I took a deep breath and held up my script. I looked once more out to the crowd and saw Harry sitting next to Marley. They weren’t even paying attention. She was laugh and so was he.

“Alright, start the scene Darcy.” The director spoke. I nodded my head and turned my head to Zayn. He smiled warmly at me before stepping into the shadows.

Harry’s POV

I pretended to listen to Marley but I had my eyes on Darcy the whole time. I don’t know how I’ll get through this especially with Darcy mad at me. I watched as Zayn stepped into the shadows and Darcy stared to speak.

“I can see you Paris, just come out.” She spoke softly. He stepped forward with a grin plastered on his face.

“Hello my love, how have you been?” Paris grabbed Juliet’s hand and placed a kiss on it.

“I’m okay, I think.” She sighed out. Paris pulled her to the bed and stared down on her. He lifted her chin up with his finger and bore his eyes into hers.

“My love, if there’s anything you would like to tell me, I’ll always be here for you.”

Juliet nodded her head. “I know, but don’t you think our parents are rushing us into this? I’m only 16, and you 19. I-I love you Paris, but I’m not sure if I’m ready.”

Paris wiped the tears that feel from Juliet’s eyes before brushing his lips against hers.

“Just so you know I’m scared too. But I know that I have your love to get me through this. I love you Juliet and I promise to take care of you for the rest of my life.”

Paris firmly pressed his lips against Juliet’s as she ran her fingers through his hair.

“I love you too.” She breathed out.

I got up and quickly stormed out of the theater feeling exactly how Darcy felt the day before. I could feel my insides churning before my breakfast left me.

“Fuck my life.”
